cannot process and capture one keeps crashing
hi Paul,
I posted a thread yesterday about now being able to process files and getting a window with " cannot generate preview" when i tried to unsuccusssfully process. I then tried your suggestion of deleting the cache folder within capture folder to which I immediately had some success. However I had to repeat the deleting of cache folder every time I wanted to process out another file (which surely can't be right ) and now this no longer works. Capture One is also crashing on me an awful lot so I wonder If the problem is more serious as the software is not functioning properly. Perhaps I need to delete all capture one software from my computer and reinstall. Please advise the best way forward.
thanks
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
I went back in your history of posts here and saw you have had similar problems in the past (January and February this year). You received similar suggestions and apparently one way or the other you managed to succeed but I have not read about it in those threads.
You can do a unistall-install cycle as describe here:
http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageid=1
Clearing the application cache might help as well. The Cache.db file is located here:
~/Library/Caches/com.phaseone.captureone
However, I strongly suggest to do some basic OS X maintenance before you reinstall. CO6 is rather sensitive to OS X's health status. What I have in mind is repair permissions (Disk Utility), defragmentation, and drive rebuild (requires 3rd party tool). If you have not done it recently, repair permissions is something I should start with now.
What is your version of OS X by the way?
Hope this helps.0 -
hi Paul,
In response to your advise I ran disk utility which corrected lots of problems with disc permissions. I then ran Applejack, uninstalled capture one using the link you posted aswell as cleanmymac and findanyfile to remove all files associated with capture one. I have reinstalled Capture one and have processed a few files successfully. Still too early to comment much further than this but will let you know how I get on.
I am using mac OSX 10.6 by the way
thanks

Unfortunately my response was a little premature. Problems are still persisting. Everytime I want to process i have to delete the cache folder inside the capture folder aswell as closing Capture One and re-loading it. I for got to mention previouslythat some images are freezing up in a very soft focus preview and I cannot preview at 100%. I am spending hours just processing out tiffs before I even begin to do any photoshop work. 0 -
Open a support case with Phase One (http://support.phaseone.com). They can go some levels deeper. Always interested to hear back. 0 -
unfortunately I cannot. I have tried filling in all the info fields however I cannot fill in the field for camera body/back serial number. I work for a photographer as his retoucher and he has given me his second C1 registration. I dont know his camera serial numbers and I am pains to call him up and bother him more. Why is this all made so difficult? PLease will some one contact me or give me a direct contact to solve my problem. I have now spent 3 days trying to sort this out and now i cant even send out for a support case. 0 -

Yes, you can! Skip that field, it is for hardliners and Phase One hardware possessors only.0
