Resaving a backup catalogue

Okay I've had a bit of a shock when trying to load a 90 GB catalogue it wouldn't open, saying that it was in use by another users, and showing my name. I pick up that I could get to the catalogue by loading a backup file. Now that it's open I'm trying to rename or make a new copy of the catalogue. How is this done? I preferably would like to not have to duplicate the images. just the catalouge info..

The catalogue was created in version 8, I upgraded to 9.1 yesterday.

The catalogue is on a thunderbolt raid 5 array. copied from the internal drive of the iMac..

Mac OS system 10.10.5

    If the 'used by another user' is the only problem, you don't need to revert to a backup. Just use Finder - 'Show Package Content' on your catalog. Remove the 'writelock' file that's inside. Done.

    The writelock file is normally deleted when closing the catalog in CO or CO itself. But it may remain in the catalog when CO crashes, is forced to quit, or when the catalog is copied or sync'd while open (something you should never do, because it can create incomplete or corrupt copies).
