Expression Media - The Future
In order to help us, the users, provide helpful feedback on EM to the development team, would it be possible for Phase One to give a rough idea of where they see the product going? For example is it going to be a case of refining the product as it is, improve integration with CO, or a complete product re-build? Something like a rough development road-map would be really useful.
Keep up the good work, and I look forward to a long future using EM.

The June 3 interview with Phase One CEO Henrik O. HÃ¥konsson ('Integration "possible" after Phase One acquires Expression Media') says that "Phase One will survey photographers about their wishes and needs."
An online survey would be ideal. A while ago Microsoft created the "Expression Media Beta TAP Feedback Survey," presumably for EM3 planning. It was a very detailed and comprehensive survey. I hope Phase One has access to the survey results. (I don't know if the survey is still available, but the questions are described in the Microsoft EM Forum.) Phase One could create a similar survey to solicit opinions on EM and Capture One integration, features, etc.
My hope is that any "integration" of EM and Capture One simply means "play well together," not combined into a single (more expensive) program. I've already invested in Nikon Capture NX2 as my raw processor and would not want to pay for Capture One if I wish only to upgrade to the next version of EM.0 -
I have only a one small wish - that C1 'd continue to be capable to be launched from any 3rd party application to work w/ a raw file by passing the name (w/ path) of that raw file through its command line parameter w/o invoking anything UI-wise/workflow-wise from the future DAM side whatever that will be... that is a feature sorely missed in LR. 0 -
The release of CO 5.1.2 today is Phase One's first admission into a future of improved cooperation between Capture One and Expression Media. 0 -
Syncrasy - thanks for the link to the interview, I see its now on the Phase One front page. I too would welcome the 'play well' approach rather than one piece of software, I'm not a fan of the Lightroom integration, and believe that users should have the right to mix and match software. But if people choose to go down the CO and EM route, as I will, then there should be the facility for a seamless link between the two.
I'm impressed with how quickly Phase One have started to release EM compatibility enhancements - didn't think they would be this quick.0 -

it can be one software and still can be used in a lean way - for example I never visit a "Library" tooltab (how unfortunate that I can't remove it from the toolbar in order not to see it at all) even it is integrated into C1 - always calling C1 from another application to work on the file (one at a time) deemed worth to be processed in C10 -

Drew (or other Phase One staff),
Is Phase One going to follow up on the CEO's stated intention to "survey photographers about their wishes and needs." If so how and when? Several users have posted ideas on this forum, but a more formal survey process would seem more fruitful and efficient. Did Phase One receive the results of the Microsoft EM survey that I referenced above?0 -
