After restore, catalog is huge and having path issues
Last night when I was trying to clean up my catalog, I attempted to fix a keyword that had only been applied to a few of my photos anyway. At the time I did not realize what an insurmountable task keyword management was for this software, and Capture One crashed and damaged my catalog beyond repair.
Fortunately, I'm diligent about my backup routine and restored from a backup I made earlier the same day (though I'm still sulking about losing an entire evening of work). I followed the instructions here to do this.
Unfortunately, my catalog still seems to be messed up. My backup file was only 129 megabytes, the corrupt file was 139 megabytes, my newly restored catalog was 505 megabytes, and it is continuing to grow - up to a whopping 2.12 gigabytes at the moment without me actively doing anything in the software.
The other issue, possibly related, is Capture One is claiming about half my images are "unavailable/unsupported/corrupted". I can easily fix this by using "Locate..." and navigating to the image's folder manually. What's so strange about it is the path info is already correct when I look at it in Capture One. If the path info is correct, why isn't Capture One seeing the file?
I tried verifying/optimizing the catalog from Capture One, and it seems to think everything is fine. I submitted a support ticket to PhaseOne last night, but haven't received a response yet. Any ideas what's going on here? I'd like fix this without losing much more of my work/time. 😕
Edit:
Might also be helpful to note that I only use referenced images on an external hard drive and have never stored any directly in the catalog. I'm using version 9.1.2.

This could be because the backups don't contain the previews, and that C1 is just reconstructing all the previews, which take the largest space in the catalog.0
