Color management problem
Here is the scenario. A week ago or so I purchased a new computer, i7-2600 with 8GB RAM and AMD 5570 video card running Windows 7 home premium edition. I addition I purchased NEC PA231 series monitor. I installed programs including CO 6.2 Pro and Adobe CS5 both 64 bit. All worked well. After that I decided to calibrate the monitor using Spider 3 Elite puck and NEC SV II software. The calibration process went smoothly and I was pleased with the results. Yesterday I started CO and it took 3 minutes to start. What happened was a message “color profile could not be loadedâ€. But the image looked good (this is probably because the monitor profile is actually loaded to the monitor). So I decided to shut down the software and restart the PC. On the restart of CO all seemed to be OK. However when I shut is down and restarted problem returned. CS5 does not report any malfunction.
I am new to Windows 7 and am still trying to find a way. And no, I have not tried to reinstall the CO not the SV II software.
Any suggestions what could be the culprit?
Thanks

First take is to look whether the new monitor profile is a v2 or v4. If v4, create a new profile as v2. Alternatively, you could revert the calibration process by selecting the default monitor profile again for your display. Each of these efforts could give you an indication whether the monitor profile-Capture One combination is the culprit. 0 -
Paul,
than you for your quick response. I am not sure what you mean by V2 and V4.0 -
Paul, AFAIK...V6 handles either V2 or V4 profiles...I'm pretty sure that's not direction to go....
what I might suggest is to download and install the very latest video drivers, even a brand new computer will be loaded with drivers that are several months old...and that's a long time in the graphics world. That and windows update are good to do right away even with new computers...
...do that first and then report if you still have issues..0 -
An update.
I checked all drivers on the computer including the video driver. All are the latest versions available on the manufacturer sites. Then I checked the ICC profiles for the monitor – there are two: the original and one created by SV II. The NEC profiler takes care of the ICC management. So then I decided to reboot the PC and start CO6 Pro – it worked great! After working for a while I shut down the CO6 and restarted it a few times – no problems. So I rebooted the PC once more time – could not replicate the problem. Whatever it was reboot took care of it.
Just wanted to give you an update.
Thank you for the suggestions.
