    As a test, I've also created a second admin user account on my system and tried to activate CaptureOne from that account. The same error appears there as well, so it's not permissions with my user account.

    I pulled up the support case to have a look.
    The circumstances seem fairly strange but I would urge you to continue moving forward with support while they explore the possible causes for the issue. Currently the three causes you have listed were all brought forward as possible conflicts, not certainties. They'll help you get to the bottom of it, just have faith and be patient 😄
