Sony 90mm G-Lens, Color reproduction, Pixel Shift support
Hi,
love the speed of C1! Fantastic job!
But instead of adding so many extra features, the core feature of just getting the most out of the raws in really short time, could maybe use some updating on those lens profile lists.
The outstanding Sony 90mm 2.8 G macro is not there! ;(
Same for the Canon 35mm 2.0 IS.
Having switched to the Sony 7RIII, I also feel a little bit on the improvising side, what color reproduction concerns.
I have not found a fast and convincing setup that gives me extremely close to reality colors for professional art reproductions. (taking perfect lightning etc provided, just the raw conversion;)
Implementing the colorchecker passport or the colorchecker SG is just for orientation on the grayscale ok, but it´s just improvising.
Since you offer a special Sony C1, it would be cool if you offered a solution here for the higher end Sonys.
But since the software cost is close to PS and LR together, I think it would be a nice move.
And finally, to totally contradict my statement about the secondary importance of extra features:
could you please, please add that pixel shift feature to C1.
The Sony software is so insanely unresponsive that I would really LOVE to see you implement that feature in that great C1 manner... 😊
All the best
Jack

Jack,
This is a User to User forum.
What you should do is create a Support Case and and add you wish list description to it. That way you will ensure that your desires are read and assessed by the C1 team that monitors such requests and tries to judge which changes and enhancements are the most popular across all users and, no doubt, some other criteria too.
The requests for lens profiles should be made the same way although one might imagine that for most recent Sony lenses on Sony cameras C1 may well be using the Sony inbuilt lens data provided form the camera/lens combination rather than a Phase developed set of adjustments.
HTH.

Well, if they are outstanding why would you want a correction profile?! 😄0 -

Right, but no lens ist perfect 😉
I haven´t described the issues(two different ones for the lenses) precisely enough.
Resolution wise they are among the best.(well at least the 90mm;)
But there is a small amount of distortion which I have to get rid of in some uses.
Issue 1: When I use the manufacturer profile with the 90mm(others accordingly) and get rid of the distortion, I haven´t found the option to avoid that the whole image is resampled to have the original Pixel output.
This way I have the feeling I lose more overall detail sharpness than necessary, because the whole image is resampled/enlarged to the original pixel output size.
I would love to have an image only have for example a 96% pixel output (the exact figures/handling would be the magic that C1 could offer to each lens), move as few pixels as possible and keep as much of the original detail sharpness, as an option.
Issue 2: Like many photographers, I sort of switched to Sony for some uses, but still don`t want to give up my Canon gear completely (some hands are bigger than Trumps;D)
So using some Canon glass on a Sony camera is not as rare as one would think.
Now I´m using a Metabones V adapter, which works fine for many functions, but of course not the automatic lens manufacturers profiles information. That´s why it would be cool to manually chose them from the list(with the option as described in I).
The 35mm IS would be nice, but of course many others as well, especially the TSE´s (they should also definitely be on the list, maybe even with movement option, but it could be a bit of a stretch to ask for...come on spoil us! 😄
That would make some of my work much easier.
Maybe they could make a vote page for the lenses.
Or I just haven´t found the right buttons in the software yet...0
