Layers tab missing
Excuse me if i'm being a moron, but this is my first attempt at photo editing.
I can't seem to find the 'layers' section in the version of Capture One i have downloaded.
According to the tutorials on the website, it should be in the exposure section, however i can only see the histogram, exposure, high dynamic range, levels and curve.
Please help! Thanks

Odd. Try resetting the whole workspace back to Default (Window > Workspace > Default). You can also add a Layers tool via Window > Create Floating Tool > Layers. 0 -
Thanks.
The only options i have under the Window tab is Event Log or Activities?0 -

If the tutorials were for versions before V11 they would have shown a previous and slightly different layout to the present layout.0 -

Thanks but they were for v.11 (albeit on a mac). doesn't explain why i have no layers sections whatsoever though. i've looked everywhere.0 -
Which activation of Capture One are you running?
If you are using the free Sony version Layers functionality is not available. You need a Pro level -either Sony Pro or Full Pro.

This means you are running the free Express (for Sony). Layers are not part of the feature set of this running mode. As noted elsewhere, you need a Pro version. Pro (for Sony) will do the job also and has a reduced price level compared to the full Pro product.0 -
Thank you for your help! That will explain it all 😊 I had thought the free trial gave full use for the 30 days. Ah well, thanks again 0 -

My understanding is the trial download allows selection of the version you want to try out. Sounds like you picked a version that does not have the layers feature.0 -
There's only one option for download...?
Just says download latest version of capture one 30 day trial with all features unlocked..0 -
Haven't tried it lately, but the single trial download contains all versions and you select the one you want to trial at installation time. 0 -
You can activate a new Pro license (or trial if you haven't started it yet) from your existing Express installation without having to re-download Capture One. Under Help, hit License Information and then Stop Running Express (for Sony). You’ll have to restart Capture One, but on launch you will be given the option to launch in a different mode. 0
