    Yes, this is possible. For example, if you use Custom Fields 1 and 2 for your two fields, you would use these field phrases in your HTML:
    [color=#006040:3grhrs1r](iView:Field_1)
    (iView:Field_2)[/color:3grhrs1r]

    (I assume Media Pro still uses the "iView" phrase lingo; I'm still using Expression Media).

    I'm curious though... Why do you want to create custom short + long description fields? Aren't the standard Headline and Caption fields sufficient? These fields are part of the IPTC core and can be read by other programs whereas custom fields are not likely to be recognized outside of Media Pro.

    Many thanks for your answer.
    I think the answer to your question may be simply due to my incompetence/unfamiliarity with what Media Pro can do.
    In fact I created a number of custom fields with which to categorise and sort my images, all of which show defects in gold and silver bars (refiner, image, vault, defect code, metal, severity, caption, comment). I did not have much success in importing properties from the original (Windows 7) jpgs. For example, tags, title and authors are imported while comments and subject are not. I tried but failed to use the built-in captions field, maybe because I created a customs field with the same name.

    To ensure compatibility with other software it's best to use only IPTC fields. The 'Keywords' field is the safest way.
    For organizing purposes i'm using 'strange' words like @NotRatedYet. these words are never used in a 'normal' way so there is no 'pollution'.
