Keyword Confision
Hi all,
Sorry if this has been covered, but I'm a little confused about keywords in v9. After my first import of new images into V9, when I try to add a keyword, normally as I type I'd get options of existing ones popping up, but this doesn't happen now, it is as if my keyword database has been removed. However, my old images have my keywords so they are there. Has v9 created a new empty keywords database? If so, how do I get my old ones in it, or do I need to addd them all again as I add images? Will be hard not to miss any.
Also, anyway of getting a list of the keywords in my old v8 catalogue?
Thanks
Steve

Hi all,
I still can't get my keywords to appear in the keyword library. I tried to create new library from catalogue but I get an error "the requested document type is not recognised". Please can someone explain how to export my keywords and then re-import to see them? I think this is what I need to do?
can someone who has get their old keywords from 8 into 9, please explain the procedure?
Thanks

Thanks but how do I ""Export the keywords from the real catalog."?
Thanks

C1P9 here caused a couple of problems. First, the trouble you had is a bug. Conversion should have been automatic or, at least, a simple method of conversion should have been detailed and provided. Second, the language in the help files is inconsistent. In any event, find the section in the on line help that deals with libraries. Here is a section of it that should provide you with the information:
"
Managing Keyword Libraries
Managing the Keyword Library – or indeed multiple Keyword Libraries – is the key to mastering quick keywording.
If a list is required for use in another workstation, or if you wish to export a document Keyword Library as a foundation for a custom Keyword Library you can export the list from the contextual menu option (…) in the specific Keyword Library to a text file (.txt).
This txt format can then be imported on another workstation, shared, or reimported for customization. Upon import of txt file this is converted to a .cokeywordsdb file and stored in the applications support folder.
To import a Keyword Library from another source, click on the (…) icon on the keyword library tool bar and then Create Keyword Library… and then an option from the fly-out menu. Capture One 9 supports import from a variety of sources."

Thanks. I've followed the instructions and now have worked out how to import a text file and export a text file. This works fine, but when I export the keywords from the c9 catalog, I only get the keywords since I installed v9, not any of the old ones.
According to can earlier post, I should be able to create a blank catalogue and then choose create keyword library > from capture one catalog. I've tried this and I get an error.
"Description: The requested document type is not recognized.
Reason: File is not a Capture One document: /Users/me/Pictures/Capture One Catalog.cocatalog
Recovery: File is not a Capture One document: /Users/me/Pictures/Capture One Catalog.cocatalog
"
Can anyone replicate this or help? I get the same problem with a blank catalog so it's not that mine is corrupt.
Thanks

I may have gone as far as I can ... Once I had the dummy file created, while still in that file I exported from the real C1 file. Then I closed the dummy and opened the real file and imported the text file I had just created. That worked for me. If it doesn't work, I'd have to suggest Tech support. 0 -

Thanks, I've logged it with support, I just keep getting that error.

Ok, looks like I was trying the import from the wrong part of the keyword section. They are now all imported correctly
Thanks for your help, this is now solved.

Hi Steve,
I get the exact same error messages and did not succeed with taking over my C1 8 keywords to C1 9.
Could you please explain what you meant with "I was trying the import from the wrong part of the keyword section"?
Cheers

Sure, import from catalogue keywords section NOT keyword library section. In there you will see the same import dialogue. It's not in front of me now, so let me know if not clear and I'll post a picture to explain tomorrow.

Great, thanks.
I could import the keywords. Unfortunately, C1 keeps crashing once I click on any of the keywords. But that's another issue... ☹️0
