Can't edit images when I reopen CaptureOne with same catalog

I recently purchased captureone 9 with my MacPro. I imported my images and then edited a few. I then closed the program and reopened CapureOne. I select a raw image but I can't move any of the sliders or adjustments bars when I select an image. What am I doing wrong?
