Allocating memory to Capture

Can anyone tell me how to allocate memory to capture? On PS you can do it in preferences but there doesnt seem to be an option on Capture.

Im running the program on my mac and i have no other applictaions that i want to use - i would like to allocate all the memory to capture so i can make it run as fast as possible...

    Easy: don't do anything because you can't and because Capture One will automatically allocate all memory it needs as far it is available.

    Yeah because of this lovely feature, just this past Saturday Capture crashed and I lost a lot of valuable time.
    Believe it or not, some folks like having other things open while editing. You know like MAIL,music, OTHER editing programs.
    The whole idea of buying more ram is so that I could do these things.
    Its not just C1 though. As far as I know, Photoshop is the only program that does allow allocation limits. This should be standard in all programs.

    Not to hijack, but is there a way to limit allocation within OS.X?

    Maybe you could tell me why capture is running so slowly on both my computers too?

    Tower
    2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel XeonTower
    160 gig of space and 6 GB memory.
    Running Snow Leopard.

    *I dont connect my camera to this computer but I do preview, edit and process files and it seems to kill my computer even when I shut down all the other programs, it takes ages to load a preview and sometimes I cant even move the cursor. I can literally hear the system struggling to gather all the information.
    Is it because I haven't allocated enough memory to the program? If so how do I do this?

    Macbook Pro
    Running Lion 10.7.3
    2.4 GHZ Intel Core i7
    8GB ram 1333 MHz DDR3
    AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB
    SSD Drive

    I shoot from this laptop and only run Capture from it yet when I shoot it takes forever to load the previews - I generally have to shoot 10 frames and then wait for them to slow come in. I cant work like this and brought the laptop with the highest specs I could buy to make sure everything ran smoothly... yet its not


    Would love to know your thoughts?

    Hi Emma12,

    Performance issues can have many causes, but based on your hardware's specs, memory (RAM) is not the first I would think of. If you still are not sure about that, open Activity Monitor from the Programs/Utilities folder. It is a great tool to see how the main resources (CPU, memory, disk, network) are used.

    Mac Pro tower:
    Have you done any disk management lately? (repair permissions, defragmentation). Is the disk full? This could slow down CO6 considerably.

    MBP
    Your MBP with i7 and SSD should be screamingly fast. If only CO6 is running on it, I have no idea what's going on. Start Activity Monitor here too to see whether this gives any insight.

    Q: what raw files (camera, megapixels) and how many of them in 1 folder are you handling at a time approx.?
