Catalogue too large; how do I make it referenced only?
Hello;
I always work with referenced files but during this trip I accidentally have all my shots imbedded in my "current trip" catalogue - and my computer hard disk is almost full. How do I get my Catalogue to connect to my external hard drive where I have all the shots I want to connect with so that I can free up space in Catalogue and hence on my internal disk - other than deleting them and re-importing them since I've already done quite a bit of work on the pictures ?
Thanks

By the way, I work with a Mac... I was wondering if I show the package contents in Finder and there simply delete the files I see in the Originals folder and then reconnect to my external disk it will do the trick ? 0 -
Hi everyone;
I still have the above issue. I did receive some leads on how to fix this on Facebook (there is a Capture One page there) and via several links learned a lot about albums. But I STILL DON'T KNOW HOW TO DELETE IMPORTED FILES without affecting the work done on each picture so that I can then use REFERENCED FILES.
Anyone have a clue?
So in the meantime I've started a new catalogue with an external drive as a work around (what a waste of time)...0 -
Hi Marc
I had a similar problem late last year. Look in the Blog for an article Catalogs - Working with Managed or Referenced Image Files, I found it a bit ambiguous but the key lies in making all changes in the Catalog Window not in the Finder Window and moving the files from the managed location to the referenced location on the EHD which shows up in the Catalog tree courtesy of the + sign and the add function. After disciplining myself to this and rereading the blog post a couple of times I managed it! Good luck.

Thank you Rhuairidh, I'll go back to this "reading" ! In the meantime, I just deleted the catalogue and started a new one, this time only with referenced files ! Not efficient, but effective !
