    I figured out a solution.
First rename the original Capture One.col to something else, then make a copy of the new Capture One.col45, rename the copy to Capture One.col. Done. When it starts, you won't see the error message any more, but it will ask you whether you want to keep old setting files every time the program starts. I guess if we don't keep those old settings, this message won't show up any more. But at this moment, I still want to keep those old settings for a while.

Thanks for sharing. By Old Settings file, does it mean those from V4.1?

EDB, where is "Capture One.col"? I unfortunately answered "no" to the query re previous sessions so that question no longer comes up for me but I still get the SessionPersistancy error. I don't seem to have a "Capture One.col" or "Capture One.col45" in my Program Files\Capture One folders and am afraid it's been deleted. I do not have the Pro version. Thanks, Bern

Same error but your solution worked for me - Thanks!

Bern, you need find "Capture One.col45 or Capture One.col" file on your main drive (it is not at Capture One folder... )

At my windows i find it here - "My Images Folder" (ok, it is a Portuguese Language) :
    C:\Documents and Settings\estudio\Meus documentos\Minhas imagens\Capture One Library

Same here with Vista Home Premium 32. The given workaround did the trick. Thx!

Always great to be a beta tester.
Oh wait a second I wanted to have a working program. I stay with v4.1.2.
Sorry, but who is going to pay 300€+tax for the PRO version if even the standart version isn't working.
Seriously that amount of (BIG) bugs can be expected from beta versions of free open source software but not from something I pay for. 🤬

I've run into this problem too. It looks to be that 4.5 creates a .col45 file, but still wants to use the old name: .col; though it has to have the 4.5 content. The work-around does solve the issue, but how does something like that slip through testing?

I wanted to add, that at same time of this original posting.....I submitted a support case.
The case was responded to very quickly....even second correspondence was fast.

    Thank you Phase One

Care to share what the reply / solution they offered was?

sure Henry....first suggestion was to delete the capture one.col file, similar workaround as suggested above.
I had previously replaced it and the program was working fine, so I did nothing further. I did send the tech
a link to this thread, as they seemed quite interested.

I'm thinking the workaround isn't working quite right.

Again it is to delete the "Capture One.col" file and then copy the "Capture One.col45" into place of it. The problem is Capture One is reading "Capture One.col" at start and saving into "Capture One.col45" at shutdown.

Here's a weird one; no .col45 file. I've searched high and low. Found the old .col, but no .col45. Any ideas?

...and I have not found .col or .col45

I've opened a support case; here is the initial reply (no different from what's above, just the folder location):

please go to the Capture One Library folder located in Pictures folder. Here delete the Capture One.col file when the application is not running and rename Capture One.col45 to Capture One.col. The important part is renaming the files not just dleting the original ones. This should resolve the problem.
We are aware of this issue and are working on a fix as we speak. Thank you very much for your understanding.
    With kind regards,

I've sent them a follow-up question regarding the missing .col45 file; will let you know what I find out. My guess is I'll probably need to reinstall the application.

Also good to know they are working on a fix.

Did the change, my file systems browser (library) was lost after that. Exit and reopen fixed it.

Thanks for coming up with this.
    Cheers,

Just following up on my post above, in case anyone has a similar ongoing problem. I've been told that, technically, CO shouldn't even be working on my machine with the missing files! Yet, it does. So for the past week I've been corresponding back and forth and have sent them my configuration files. The technical staff have been very supportive. From the last communication, they seem to have identified my particular issue and are now working on a solution.
