Pink Previews in v.8
I'm shooting with the new CO version 8 (trial mode) installed alongside (not overwritten) version 7.
I'm using a Nikon D810 (listed as fully supported), tethered.
I'm on OS X Version 10.9.4 on a Mac Pro.
Each image previews with an 'electronic' pink distortion that looks like a very nasty early Photoshop filter. The image briefly looks like it should for a split second in the browser then both the browser preview and main preview go pink.
I've tested camera and it writes a RAW file to a memory card fine. I've unplugged and replugged cables, and swapped out the tether cable for another one, all to no avail.
Any help here much appreciated.
Thank you!

Please be sure to use the full raw format. 0 -
Hi Drew,
Thank you for your help.
I've just double checked the camera settings, which are set to full uncompressed RAW. I assume you are referring to the cameras RAW settings?
I've just plugged in my D800e on the end of the tether cable, and Version 8 downloads and previews an image perfectly fine.
I can't seem to find a solution to this...
Thank you.0 -
Please create a support case and well have a look. 0 -
From preview:
I couldn't open D810 files successfully. Capture One support gave the following information :
WE can only support Nikon D810 has only support for 12 and 14 bits Compressed formats.
Uncompressed 12 and 14 bits RAW and RAW Small formats are not supported (they look pink)

WOW...This is a big deal breaker for me....I just shot 1561 images and was so happy when I saw support for the D810. Now I am not seeing "red" but instead pink. I might have to cancel my order I just placed for the software via my dealer. I thought with full support came FULL support not just compressed support for cameras only.

Oh and yes I have submitted a case to PO for this as well 😊 0 -
Sorry to hear that Thomas but as always it is important to read the release notes of the software and take advantage of the free trial prior to purchase.
Please contact sales if you'd like to pursue a refund.0 -
Hi Drew,
I went through the release notes and found information about sRAW and mRAW but nothing related to compressed or uncompressed. Maybe I have looked not close enough.
However, this version for me is a step forward with some really nice new features as well as some performance increase.
I am looking forward to talking to some of you at the Photokina.

Hi Drew.
Thank you for your feedback in this thread. I'll go ahead and create a support case but it appears that the answer to my riddle has been resolved.
Do you know if support for the Nikon D810 (fully uncompressed RAW files) will be supported in time with an update to Version 8? I hope so, as we'd love to be able to squeeze every ounce from our new camera, and Capture One is by far the best software on the market to do that with!
Fingers crossed!

I'm sure it will come - I have (excellent!) support for my Canon 70D's mRaw format in version 7, and I expect that this will continue in version 8 (and I'll find out, if .NET ever finishes downloading and installing...) 0 -
According to my comment on that topic on FB. PhaseOne will be working on an update to support the uncompressed RAW files as well.

Wow "PRO" software isn't going to handle uncompressed RAW files on a high end camera?!?! Can you say ultra lame!!!! Yes please fix...that makes zero sense, but what else is new with annoying technology constantly changing the second you start getting use to it. 0 -

Phase One hides behind a statement of NIKON saying there's no difference between losless compressed and uncompressed.
If that's really the case, question to me is why would one use uncompressed, or better - why is Nikon offering a disk-space consuming, transfer rate-breaking RAW format? As well, what can one do if there are already sessions shot uncompressed and now it turns out "Fully supported" is an interesting interpretation made by Phase One.
Siu, could you work around with Adobe DNG converter? Funny, cheap old Aperture does support uncompressed RAW of D810… and Apple tells people, small RAW is NOT supported. And it works with 10.8 just fine.0 -
Has anyone tried converting the uncompressed raw
files into DNG's?
Is there any loss in quality if it works?0 -
Hello again,
i can't understand, with 7.2.3 was perfect, was possible to edit and work with the raw''s of the Nikon D4s.

I was told by a Nikon representative that at the beginning there was only the uncompressed raw format (this is now not directly referring to the D810, but in general...) and the lossless compression (and probably also the compressed format) was introduced later after many users were requesting these options in order to save disk/card space and/or faster transfer rates etc. 0 -
Hi,
I just did a very unscientific quick comparison
with the Nikon D810.
I took a couple of shots at Lossless Compression
and a couple at Uncompressed.
I did not see a noticeable difference in quality.
I guess Lossless Compressed is an option for
Capture 8 until they get things sorted out.
7.2.4 Beta works fine with uncompressed
at this time as well.0 -
Right now, it's a lot possibilities to deal with: - 2 color depths
2 different RAW types (L + S)
3 different ways of compression
4 different sizes (FX, 1.2, DX, 5:4)
2×2×3×4=48 possible RAW-file combinations? In only one camera, and with each new one the same play again. I sort of feel sorry for the test engineers but also to us users. I doubt if all these formats do have a purpose making some sense...0 -
I'm also getting "pink preview" I'm shooting full RAW on a D810 and I'm importing from a card (SD and CF).
Any suggestions?0 -
As stated in the release notes Capture One 8.0 does not support D810 uncompressed 12 and 14bit. It seems Nikon defaults to this format (even though the files are really large, and the compressed format is used for all previous Nikon cameras).
We have a solution for D810 owners ready for release soon.
