    lx2,
The image you are able to zoom on is the Preview file and not acutally the RAW. While it should always refresh and not stay 'pixelated' , the ability to do so is dependent upon your system configuration, speed, and what other software you have open. To accurately assess image quality you should use the Focus Tool. When you do so, the selected area actually develops that part of the RAW file for the best preview possible.
This can be zoomed with the Expand the focus view icon or a
    Ctrl + F
Of course another way to assess is to process a high quality file and look at %100 in PhotoShop.

    Hope this clarifies for you.

    Sincerely,

    k c

    Hi lx
First of all, I assume that you are talking about the raw image shown in the focus tab.

The main (central) window is not a raw image, but rather an embedded jpg. If this is actually what you are referring to, check that you have not disabled preview enhance. (Work > Resume Preview Enhancement).

On the focus tab, check that you have clicked the Automatic Fous Update button.

    Regards Michael

Well, thanks for the try by previous person, but i encounter the following

    1. I was told \"check that you have not disabled preview enhance. (Work > Resume Preview Enhancement). \"

I do not see any Work > Resume Preview Enhance.

Does this mean find the menu item \"Work\", then look under it? I have no menu item \"Work\". I only have \"WorkFlow\" and this choice is not under it.

    2. My machine is a 3.2 Gigahertz with 1 meg ram, no other programs open, and a high speed SATA 200 gig drive with 140 gig open. So, why does my main center picture stay pixelated sometimes, but then clear other times when I zoom in or out??

Viewing your file tree... it appears as though you are looking at these images directly from your CF card. In this manner, I don't believe the Work and Preview files are created.
Try downloading your images to your hard drive and then select the folder and choose add to permanent collection. Then the work and preview files will be created on the hard drive.

    Sincerely,

Thanks.. I will try that. Good eye.

Help me a little with workflow. I want to end up with .jpg files in my normal pictures dir somewhere, would flow be

    1. Copy pix from CF card to temp dir
    2. Work on pix in temp dir with C1
    3. Batch transform them into .jpgs, with target directory selected to where I want them to go in my normal pix dir
    4. Delete raws from temp folder

    lx200,
There are certainly plenty of Users out there with perspectives and experiences regarding efficient workflow that are more the experts than I. However, I'll always offer my 2cents worth...
Sounds as though space is limited on your system if you want to remove RAWs. Big issue to decide is how large of capacity do you need on your system. Those with plenty maintain the RAW files on the local machine. Others are networked, or use external hard drives. Then there are CDs and DVDs to utilize. With todays digital imaging it is Good practice to back-up once and Great practice to back-up twice. How one file managaes and where to keep RAW files is a personal decision based on efficiency and investment.
If I uderstand your needs correctly, you want to load RAW files in Capture One, develop JPEGs to maintain on that machine; and then remove the RAWs. I believe the QuickProofâ„¢ ability is a good option for fast development of JPEG files. Under Collection is the QuickProofâ„¢ select that displays a window with many choices for development. These images will be placed in a QuickProof subfolder or the Session folder. If however you want larger JPEG images you can set more choices at the Process tab for development. Once files are created you can copy & paste the folder or files to the desired location. Then removal of the Session RAW - proofs - develops files can be done.
    Hope this offers some perspective.
Any one elses is always greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    k c

I experience the same \"pixelation\" problems (Win XP, Athlon XP 2000+, 1GB RAM, C1 LE 3.6). The preview is much larger than the focus tool, so I want to work on the preview whenever possible, it just lets me see a larger portion of the image. Sometimes the preview even jumps from pixelated to sharp and then back to pixelated. Frustrating! What can I do about this? I do not have many programs open, 1GB of RAM should be enough, shouldn't it? For me this is an issue that should really be resolved. It hinders my workflow seriously, a pixelated preview is just about as good as no preview. Is there a solution to this problem? Perhaps a newer version of C1?

The one thing that is very important to understand here is that a preview is in reallity a preview, meaning a smaller version of the acctual image.
However the focus tool develops on screen that part of the image you have chosen. Focus tool can be set to 3 different sizes, boost it to the largest size (2nd button from the right top bar in focus window) and it should cover a good part of your image.

yes, I know it's just a preview, but it's still much larger than the focus tool at it's largest size, and when it's sharp, it provides all the quality I need. The focus tool is good for absolute reference when needed. It's just that the preview is useless when pixelated, you're looking at a large part of the screen that is not helpful in your RAW workflow at that moment. Other RAW converters (I've tried RawShooter, Camera Raw 2.4 and MRW format) don't have this. They all take some time to recalculate, I don't mind. But C1 is the only one in my system that often seems to refuse to recalculate. Surely there must be some way to resolve this?

So does Capture One (I was mearly making sure that you were not expecting full resolution in the preview)
4th option under workflow menu should say \"suspend preview enhancement\" If it says \"Resume preview enhancement\" then click on the menu point to turn it on.

I have C1 LE. The workflow menu shows only three options: selected capture settings, all capture settings and show color management settings. Is the fourth option something of C1 pro?

    Hello J Haagsma.
I also have exactly the same problem, and only 3 options under workflow menu. I did report this as a case some time ago and never got an answer. I hoped it would get fixed but now have C1 3.7 and its still doesn't work 😡

Yes, those selections are what is available in LE.
The PRO version has more. Apologies for the confusion in that the PRO help manual is used for both versions of the software. Therefore, it may show choices, features or functions that truly are not available in LE.

    geezedtee,
please send your Case # so that we can look into your no answer We would truly like to find out what may have happened.
