Session vs Catalog
Question about Session Mode.
Can Capture One be used like Adobe Bridge (like a browser) - where I just point it at a directory and I can see images in it?
Once again, I can't find clear documentation on this. (Phase One - PLEASE write some thorough user documentation)
When I go to New Session, it wants me to create a session name - but I just want to browse a folder and look at the images in that folder. I don't want to create a new folder. Why can't I click on a folder and that will be the new session?
Furthermore, I could take the metadata that Capture One creates about those images and move it to my backup machine (with the same images and folder hierarchy) and effectively transfer edits between machines.
Is there a way to do this?
I though I read session mode was analogous to Adobe Bridge, but I haven't observed that.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Ian,
That is indeed what I'm talking about.
But when you choose New Session, it asks for a new folder name.
I want it to use an existing folder - like Bridge does.
Do you know how to do that?
Thanks!0 -

Open an existing session. You can, should you so wish, just have a skeleton session into which you never import anything or associate any "favourite" folders.
Personally I think that is a huge waste of an opportunity to make life easier - but it is an option and I use it from time to time, especially when looking at sample and test files that people have made available on the forum. Stuff that do not expect to have a long term interest in tracking.
If you choose to set up a new session each time then C! will expect to be told about that session - but there is no absolute need to create a lot of new sessions. Just one umbrella session is enough and allows things to be grouped together when and if required.
HTH.

Try...
if you're in a catalog: Library tab -> Folders -> + sign (point to a folder)
if you're in sessions: Library tab -> System Folders -> and than find your folder
It should create a CO cache folder inside the one you point to.
I didn't look much into bringing my old work to CO (I used Bridge also).0
