importing photos without moving them
When I go to File -> Import Images, there doesn't seem to be a way to import photos to the library without moving them.
Is this possible?
Thanks!

Just browse to the directory containing your raw images using the Library. No need to import files you've already copied from your camera using some other means.
Though it seems that Capture One does not cache the thumbnails unless the folder is added to your Favorites--that is if a folder is not favorited the thumbnails will have to be generated every time it is opened.0 -

This should not be the case. Once generated, settings and preview/thumbnail files remain on the disk. Generation takes place the first time you open a folder (from Library) with CO4 on your hard drive.0 -

User Guide p. 41:Favorite folders are cached, which means that it is faster to access images stored in theses favorites over and over again.

Thomas,
Thanks for the reply referring to p.41 of the manual. I think that 'cached' as meant in the manual does not refer to preview generation. It refers to caching, that is keeping information in RAM instead of re-reading from disk over and over again.
I admit that I have not looked into that feature, in fact I was not aware of it until quoted in your post. However, the preview files in the cache folder are there from the first time to stay.0 -

But... the thumnails (!) are shown much faster in favorite folders as in regular folders (i.e. folders that are not set as favorite within a session).0
