White balance issue and output sharpening query
Hi all,
I'm not sure when this changed or if it is correct or not, but if I look in the pre-set list for white balance, depending on when I shot the photo, or maybe different camera, or capture one version originally, I have a different list of white balance options available. For instance I imported some images tonight and have new options such as "fine weather". I also have duplicates for cloud, shade and tungsten. If I select the ones near the top of the list, the settings are broken and the image goes green. The ones lower down are fine. If I then go to an old image, these duplicates are gone, along with some others and all works as expected.
Is this a known issue? Do different cameras show different lists or has it changed with version. Anyway to reset the list?
Also, I see we now have output sharpening. If I select none on export, does it still use the sharpening settings from the sharpening tool or is that disabled? I'd like it to include those, but I don't want to double up.
Finally, if I choose export variants and go the output sharpening tool, and choose print or screen, the value for sharpening is set to 12 for both. This seems very low. If I then go the process dialogue instead, and check the settings for screen and print, they are defaulted to 80. Is this also a bug? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

WB settings are available by camera according to what the manufacturers have provided when processing the camera's jpg file internally. Those settings may have some value when processing a RAW file but in general are not really relevant and you will usually get a better result setting your own custom selection.
If you are seeing duplicates in the drop down list it sounds odd but without knowing which camera(s) it's not really a viable option to go checking anything. You might want to check whether you have both the C1 default WB values for the camera AND some user settings saved for some reason.
For the sharpening questions see if this helps.

As I recall there is at least one video covering the new V10 features on the Phase/Capture One YouTube channel. Well worth having a look.
