White balance question
Just noticed that when i open an image in capture one 7 and check the kelvin temp it gives me the numerical reading
for the kelvin and the tint....
when i open the same image in Adobe ACR and check the white balance numbers I see different numbers...
i would think that the kelvin numbers would be the same?? or do the two programs read the kelvin scale differently?
thanks

These are relative values, and no raw program gives the same value. 0 -
Hi Stanley
I've just noticed your post.
Some time ago I investigated exactly this issue. I used several raw converters. I tried various ways of setting the temperature of the grey point.
In my hands-on experience colour temperature readings for one image should be the same (or very close) from one app to another. Likewise tint. My main conclusion was that I should use the same colour temperature for all my shoots, regardless of weather, and use software to adjust the colour to suit. I use in-camera 5200K as reference, but an 'as shot' daylight setting is equally good.
I have established lists of defined-colour settings/presets in DxO, Lightroom and Cap.1. In Cap.1 I use the 'User Styles' facility with preset colour temperatures ranging from about 2800K to 7500K. I simply hover the mouse pointer over each in turn, while watching the effect on my image. I click on the 'most appropriate' one and then tweak the temperature and tint. This is far and away the best procedure I have found, and Cap.1 generates very pleasing colours. You may wish to try it!0
