How To Apply Color Inverse 1 to only one section of photo

    If you apply the colour inverse 1 style to an image, you'll see that what it does is to pull the bottom left marker in the levels tool all the way to the right, and the bottom right marker all the way to the left. Now you can't use the levels tool as a local adjustment so you have to achieve the same effect some other way.

    You can achieve a similar effect with the curves tool, and that tool can be used as a local adjustment. You drag the bottom left marker on the curves tool all the way to the top left, and the top right marker all the way down to the bottom right.

    So first create a local adjustment layer and brush in the area you want to affect. (Turning the mask on so that you can see where you are brushing would help, then turn it off again when you have done it.) Then do as I have suggested with the curves tool. I just tried it and it seems to work.
