Coming from RSP myself, I had some difficulties with this. It would seem that the preferences only apply to images that you have not already looked at in C1. To see if that's your problem, set your preferences, quit from C1, take a photo and look at it in C1. Are the preferences OK for it?
BTW, did you notice that Adobe is giving Lightroom 1.0 free to all RSP users? A very generous offer IMO.

    Iain,

Tried what you suggested and the save preferences have reset themselves again. I untick them all, but when I open C1LE the "Save on Exit" and "Save when Changing Collection" options are ticked.

I didn't know or expect a free upgrade to Lightroom. I wish I knew that was going to be offered before I spent £50 on C1LE. Saying that though, C1LE is very good, but I did prefer RSP.

I guess I will be able to decide between using C1LE or Lightroom.

Have you got C1 PRO Trial installed by any chance? I was trialling them both, and it wasn't until I uninstalled the PRO trial that the preferences worked. Again, remember you have to try it on a 'unlooked at' file.

    Iain,

My problems have got worse now.

I uninstalled C1LE and reinstalled it and now I cannot reactivate it. When I try to activate I receive a message saying "The provided email does not match the email in your Phase One customer profile". I have checked my email address in my customer profile and it does match.

I have raise a case with the support team. So I guess I will have to wait for a response.

I had problems last night getting my LE activated for the first time! I kept going to the 'Activate' button on the web site, but it just kept throwing me into the 'e-shop'!
Eventually got it to work after about a dozen attempts.
I know that software companies have to protect their investment, but there must be a better way than this online activation method. I've had so much trouble with this kind of thing over the last 2 or 3 years with XP, CS2, TomTom, Phase One, Steam, etc. etc.
You probably didn't need to uninstall - too late! - the preferences are held in a file called 'preferences.pf'' which you can delete and start again.
Are you sure this is happening with images that you haven't even clicked on previously? All it takes is a click on the thumbnail to make C1 think that the file has been edited or previewed.

    Guys,
I have always uninstalled before installing a new version, and I have never had to reactivate the software.

Do you delete the Phase One folder after uninstall? Not necessary, but if so, make sure you keep the file c1dslr.lic - it's your licence file. I can delete everything, reinstall the software, copy the licence file back and everything works provided you are on the same computer. No activations needed.

I'm a bit puzzled that so many people have problems with the activation since I have done it once only. I've had C1 since early 2003 and I have the Pro version, but I doubt the LE version works differently.
