By the far greater number of pixels that need to be manipulated before your revised image can be displayed to you in all its glory I would guess.

What size of default preview are you creating?

Preview set to screen size at the moment 2560x1440.

It has moments when it speeds up but that's only for a few minutes then it reverts back to taking 3-5 secs to refresh the screen.

    Cheers

    Good point.

Personally I don't think that the session concept is a problem but external drivers seem to have lives of their own on Windows and I assume it's much the same on Macs.

Thanks for the replies.... I'll try moving the session to the internal SSD to see if that makes a difference! Thanks again

    Edit.

Tried moving the session to the internal SSd and if anything, it was worse. I've an open ticket with support and sent them a video. One layer took more than 10 secs to display the mask / switch it off. Crazy lag.

I'm hoping there is a cache or settings folder that might need to be cleared out etc.

When I upgrade from one version to another I tend to select "Replace" could this have mucked things up?!?

Also, when using the Intuos 4 tablet, the menu options are a pain to control at times, takes several presses to get C1 to respond.

Any pointers / thoughts would be really useful here as it's grinding work to a halt!

Try switching off hardware OpenCL acceleration in the CO preferences.

It seems the graphics subsystem in your iMac is not up to the tasks of moving so may pixels in real-time. I assume the preview is set to 2560 px in your preferences. If you have the CO8 on the external screen, make sure you hide the viewer on the iMac screen.

Your remark that at 1920 px screen size or CO8 window size all is speeding up, tells me this.

If you like to test this out further more, remove the external screen and review the performance on your iMac screen.

No, the hardwares fine. It had worked before and just started lagging. I had a ticket open with support, which I've just closed off.

It seems to have been a combination of Session that needed repairing and OpenCL. In any event, after removing C1 altogether, repairing Session and re-installing the latest version that was just released, the speed is back to normal / Acceptable level for this piece of hardware.

Support didn't seem to think anything in the latest release would have improved it..... possible corrupted file and re-install sorted it?!? Who knows, the main thing is it's back to normal 😄
