Display Very Slow
I just installed the newest maintenance 7.01. I really am impressed with quality, noise handling and most everything else except how slow it is moving from photo to photo. I have not seen any improvement from 7.0. My computer is based on an Asus P6 MB, 12g ram, 256g SSD and an AMD HD7850 video card...should have the power to do this. Last evening between my wife and I we shot about 1500 roller derby photos from two cameras, 60D and 5DmkII. Here's my problem, the average time it takes to move to the next photo and resolve full quality is approximately 7-8 seconds. If I used C1 for the whole process, 8 seconds times 1500 is about 3 hours wasted of just waiting for the photos to resolve. I chose FastStone to ID rejects and delete. With about 500 left I'm still looking at over an hour wasted.
Open CL does not seem to make any difference although the output processing on a 20 photo test file was reduced from over 3 minutes to about 50 seconds, impressive. I need something impressive with display speed. In the mean time I will do this shot in Corel After Shop Pro...fastest thing out there right now...took 2:20 to scan and create 348 preview files, and there is no detectable delay moving from photo to photo. Not quite the same quality as C1 but after all, these are roller derby photos that will end up on Facebook and be forgotten in a couple of days. I do it just because it so much fun.
Any guidance and direction would be helpful, I can''t imagine everyone is having this problem...must be me.
I have been a C1 user since the first digital rebel, my first real disappointment with Capture One.

I don't seem to be as slow to display as you, but my system - a new Intel i7 - is pretty fast, yet CO 7 displays are very slow. I have Open CL set to auto, but it doesn't seem to make a difference; I think the version my HP machine will allow me to use is not the one that CO wants or needs.
I regard this as poor programming; as it worked once before in CO6.0 -
The only time Open CL made a difference in C1 to me was output processing, I have other software where developers are playing round with Open CL and are having their problems. Seems like we end up being beta testers unwillingly, and more that that...I know I went out and purchased a new $250.00 video card that I was sure would fix the problem. I'm sure once the bugs are squashed, it might be a good thing, right now it is just creating a very unproductive workplace. I have not paid for the upgrade yet but I know I will. There are some areas that need to shine and C1 does that for me. In the mean time I will patiently wait for 7.1 or whatever magic number gets this issue fixed. 0 -
C7 are a pain. slowmotion. so i buy a new workestation. newest Asus Board, newest and fastest Intel I7, 32 Gb Ram, SSD, ATI 3 GB fast displaycard. the same scroll: tumbnails come in slowemotion. develop pictures = mor slowmotion
so i go back to V6. V6 crash some times but faster.0
