Quicktime for EM2- which version?
Hello-
First time poster here, long time DAM forum member (billseymour). Good to see familiar e-faces here, as the iView/EM users make their way to this forum.
I have been hanging in with iView and staying with QT 7.3.(?-1, I think) because iView stopped being developed and later QT versions would not work.
I downloaded the EM2 from PhaseOne as part of the "DL by June 30", and this EM2 works properly with my QT 7.3.x.
Question: can/should I finally move to the current Quicktime (whatever version that is)? Will EM2 (the Phase One download) work with "new" QT?
Thanks.
BTW- my own "most important" wish list items for an EM3:
- speed: I am using another DAM right now (other than iView), and I really miss the iView speed of execution. Please, developers, do not slow EM3 down! Better to have a leaner set of features and to run fast, at least for me.
- 2 GB catalog: Do what some other DAM apps do: separate the thumbnails into a separate file from the catalog. This seems like a very simple thing to do, and would expand the scale of EM3 greatly.
- more complex files: iView was unable to handle files with multiple Alpha channels (Psd or Tif), showing a "faded" thumbnail. Nice to be able to see the true thumb/image.
- integration/combining apps: I would add a vote for "integration" rather than "combining". iView wasn't broken, but "just" needed proper care and nurturing. So I'd hope EM will continue to be "iView-like", rather than morphing into a large, unwieldy app that insists on going head-to-head with Lightroom or the others.
Looking forward to EM3 with the greatest interest.
