Are you working with a catalog or a session?

I am working in a catalogue when I select the window menu a catalogue is ticked.

Never understood when to use a session and when a catalogue,

Well, in particular if you are occasionally working on the laptop, but mostly on the desktop, I would suggest using a session on the laptop. You can import the images to the desktop (into a session or catalogue) later, and Capture One can move all the adjustments with them for you.

If you have an hour to spare, Phase One has a recent webinar about catalogues and sessions that you might find instructive.

    Hi,

In my case I work on both by desktop and notebook using a catalog with the images on an external drive that is set to attach to the same assigned drive on each and then simply copy the catalog from the source to the computer I am working on.

That means all adjustments etc are maintained and all you have to remember to do is copy the catalog backwards and forwards. Note that by Catalog I mean the contents of the folder which will include the .cocatalogdb file, and the 3 folders (Adjustments, Cache and Originals). Just keep the same structure on both PC's.
