Difficult to drag bottom edge in unconstrained crop
One way that I like to use the crop tool is to set the aspect ration to "Unconstrained" and then drag the edges of the image inwards, to isolate the subject.
In this mode there is a narrow (invisible) zone around the edge of the image in which the mouse pointer becomes a double-headed arrow. When the double-headed arrow is showing, I should be able to click and drag the edge of the crop to where I want it to be. This works fine with the top, left and right edges. However the bottom edge behaves differently. For much of the zone where the cursor shows as a double headed arrow the drag does not work, it only seems to work for a very narrow zone (1 or 2 pixels wide) at the extreme edge, making it difficult to select.
This behaviour only seems to happen if there is no existing crop on the image. If the bottom edge has already been moved, then the drag operation behaves normally, like the other three edges.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
I realise there are several workarounds for this problem, but it is frustrating when the visual feedback of the cursor changing shape is not matched by the way the drag operation works.

Not something I have noticed Richard.
Where do you have the Browser window located?
I would agree that it is marginally different if the lower edge has already been adjusted in some way. I assume the program can pick up a value from the edit information in that situation.
There may be some minor conflict with the needs of Windows functions for hiding and displaying things?

Hi Grant,
Good question about the location of the browser. I always have it on the right. I just switched it to the bottom and I couldn't get the problem to occur. When I switched the browser back to the right, it started happening again.
Similarly, if I hide the browser, I can't get the problem to occur, but as soon as I re-display the browser (on the right) the problem starts happening again.
It does look like the position of the browser is throwing out the calculation that determines whether the drag can occur.

I also have the exact same problem getting the cursor to locate the edge of the image so that it can be dragged to a new location.
Sometimes I can be trying to complete this action for maybe a dozen or more times without any luck; the cursor changes shape as it locates the edge of the image but won't drag the edge.0 -
I have found this problem too and find the only soluction is to drag the entire crop selection upwards so the the bottom edge is in position and then drag down the top edge. 0 -
I have seen this problem in version 7, 8, 9 and previously complained about it.
I too have the browser on the right side.0
