Qimage is for Windows only, although I suppose you could use it on a Mac via Parallels. How about Photoshop, which is what legions of photographers have been using for years with excellent results? You can export your C1 image to PS and do local edits, fine tuning and output sharpening before printing. I cannot imagine that you will not need Photoshop for some tasks sooner or later, probably sooner.

I second Rob's opinion. You will probably need Photoshop anyway, so why not start to use it for printing as well. In case you discover you will do a lot of printing, Lightroom might be interesting. Same quality color management wise, but easier to print a selection of images in one stroke either on individual sheets or with multiple images on a single sheet.

In case you had not already your focus onto it: color management. When you buy your monitor, buy a calibration device with it.

Then again that is only if youneed to adjust a file prior to sending it to the Printer. With the Canon Pixma you can just create a printer queue and then drag your processed files into the queue to print. No need to open a separate program.
But perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself, just thought it was worth mentioning.
