Media Pro crashes
Media Pro crashes every time when I want to import JPEG or RAW files. It crashes also when I want to create a Media Pro Catalog from Capture One Pro or when I want to add a favorite to Media Pro. It works fine on my laptop with Window 7 64 bit but on my desktop with XP Home SP 3 Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2,4 MHz 2.00 GB RAM it is .... 😁

Crashes or a render error?0 -

Can you please create a support case and get us a System Information file?

🤬 I am also unable to import images.
This is not a PRO Software, it's for me a joke. In deutsch ein "Witz".
Warum wird so ein unfertiges Programm verkauft?0 -
I have already import more than 3 catalogs with more than 80'000 files.
Why did you bought this program without testing it? And why write you in German, without trying to translate it in English?
I hope you opened a support case, so that this program can be improved. At least, i have other DAM-Software (ACDSee, IDimager (currently in use) an EM2 and all of them have more or less bugs, which been solved after I bought them. It seems today, that there are so many hard- and software combinations that there always be bugs.
But yes, Phase one had first start a beta test. But maybe there funds are running out? 😉0 -
I have a Win 7 64bit, 12G ram system.
When I first started using the program, I got 3 crashes in a row.
Subsequently, I think I know why I crashed --
The program was/is running slow, especially when I imported a catalog with 37k photos. I got impatient, and started to "look around", clicking on various key words, folders, photos, etc while it was working. Bad decision, as I crashed (locked up).
I have now been using it for 3 days without an issue - as long as I wait a bit until it stops "analyzing things". I have imported a few hundred photos at a time from CO 6.2 without an issue, and as long as I am patient I have had no issues.
Bottom line - in Windows at least, it doesn't stack up commands very well.0 -

My english is not good, but i can also read English texts. 🤭
I am confident phase one. I am always satisfied with their software.
As a "Expression Media 2" users attracted me the really cheap upgrade. 😉
It is certainly soon a patch of Phase One Media Pro.0 -
My english is terrible too, but at least it is polite to write in english, even if it's terrible.
For me Expression media II makes for me (!) the same problem like Media Pro now. Now, at least, there is a software company where you can open a support case, to solve the problems.
Sooner or later (I hope sooner) the software will improved. I guess the first step (to Media Pro I) was the most difficult step and the next releases would be an improve.0 -
Hmmm, I may wait a little to see how this issue plays out before purchasing it. 0 -
This first version of Media Pro is a full desaster.
I am very disappointed. I did not excpect this bad quality from P1.
Problems:
1) Import media files to catalog takes round about 10 times longer as EM2.
2) Cannot open my Canon RAW files. After klicking the thumbnail the PC is frozen.
Both cores running at 100% speed. I have to kill the Media Pro process.
3) The orientation of some thumbnails in catalog are wrong (90°). After correction of Thumbnail the original picture
has wrong orientation.
Will stay with EM2 further on, no problem at all.
This version of Media Pro is crap.
My system:
Windows 7, 32 Bit, dual core, 2.1 GHz

I have to take issue with some of the really negative comments. OK, so the software has issues, were you expecting it to have no bugs the first day version 1 was released? I have used plenty of software (Tiger springs to mind) that were absolutely horrible when first released. This is why on a production machine you don't instantly upgrade, you wait for the mfg to work the bugs out.
"My software crashes when I do x" is helpful
"This first version of Media Pro is a full desaster.
I am very disappointed. I did not excpect this bad quality from P1" is NOT helpful.
Nor is "This is not a PRO Software, it's for me a joke"
I would ask people posting to please have a little respect for the software engineers, we know they will work out the kinks, and if it is critical, why the heck are you running version one the same day they release it?0 -
Appreciate your point Chris, but have to argue some points.
I wouldn't expect any software to be bug free on release.. but I wouldn't expect so many 'fatal' crash bugs in a piece of software from a company of this calibre.
If we should wait for the developer to 'work the [crash] bugs out' - frankly, it's not ready to be released.
Perhaps people are running version one on day of release because it's available to purchase or upgrade, and at the current price point - you'd expect it to be suitable for it's intended purpose... I know I would.
It's also worth bearing in mind that some of us are testing it on a 30 day trial while keeping EM2 for our work. To have to 'delete' or move the EM2 prefs to get Media Pro to load without crashing is bizarre, but you have to remember that we're wasting those 30 days evaluating the software on basically bug testing. If we don't have a product that works in that 30 days, how can we make an effective judgement on whether to buy the product at the end of the 30 days??
If you bought a new car and the brakes didn't work, would you be happy having your investment sat on your drive rusting away until they've been able to sort the problems out?
You're right about constructive feedback though, I'll give you that.0 -
I agree with Junction... partly because I cannot get the software to even import a single JPG without crashing every time so it isn't even something I can test at the moment.. While it appears not everyone has this issue - with so many having fatal crashes, perhaps it wasn't ready for release to the public quite yet... I look forward to seeing a solution to this so I can try it out.
The UI does feel a bit dark/depressing though... perhaps a tool to allow us to build our own themes would be something to add to the list - I like a typical LR medium gray with colored icons... this B&W is too much IMO.0 -
Same problems, very sad to have upgrade to an unusable software,
IVM and Microsoft Expression media still works.
