EmptyName
Why am I getting EmptyName.tif after processing. My recipe is set to use Image Name and the sample that it shows is correct but once the image is process I end up with EmptyName.tif, EmptyName 1.tif etc.
What gives???

i have had that happen too recently. not sure how i fixed it but it was annoying to say the least. this was on V6.1 0 -
Create a new process recipe (with similar settings as the old one of course) and try it. Does it help? 0 -
I've been having a similar problem. It seems as though the default naming parameters, for processing, have been changed to <blank>. I currently have to remember to reset them to "Image Name" for each new session. I haven't had time to investigate the cause of this. If someone has further insight, I'd appreciate it. 0 -
Could have been an upgrade problem. In CO5 the field name was different than in CO6 (File Name versus Image Name or vice versa). Hence, create a new process recipe and you should be fine (but I believe I did that suggestion already here...). 0 -
It appears to not be connected to the process recipe. If I set the tool properly for on recipe, it stays put for the others. It is connected to the default settings for new sessions. Once I've changed the parameter for a session, I can process without problems. Starting a new session causes that field to revert to blank, and name processed files <empty name>
I think I'll start a support case, and get to the bottom of it.0 -
Seem to be a quirk in the BatchQueue
Close your Capture One
Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Capture One/
Delete any folder called "Batch Queue"
Launch CO and you should be good.0 -
found this bug on set yesterday - had to frantically go back to V5 - which then didnt work b/c V5 license wasn't valid anymore
had to wait for support to tell me to use the new V6 license to reactivate V5- very weird.
Ulf's advice didnt work for me what did work was having the output naming panel open and in the format field it has to say image name. Then no more empty name files.
Hope its fixed soon.0 -

This is what I tried to suggest in my earlier post in this thread. Maybe my writing was not clear.0 -

Now that I go back what you said earlier it makes sense - "In CO5 the field name was different than in CO6 (File Name versus Image Name or vice versa)" I never used output naming before since processed filenames were ok before V6, i though you meant just make a new recipe which doesn't solve the bug unless you also have output naming open.
I hope this is the last problem with V6 - its always painful to update C1 and discover the issues on set.0 -

Certainly painful, in particular when you're in full swing on the set.
In general I clear workspaces, batch history, default session file, preference files (and maybe I forgot one) before upgrading; works for me in preventing issues.0 -

Yes you must have the token for "CaptureName" otherwise it wont work. I have seen twice that it did have this and still produced "EmptyName" which is what is should do if output naming is empty! So if output naming was empty, then the software worked exactly as intended.
...and by the way, your Capture One 6 product key will activate Capture One 5.
But your old key for Capture One 5 is disabled if it was used for an upgrade.0 -
Ulf - sure you can say the software worked as intended but this was not a "feature" in V5 so we all had to find out about it accidentally. And if you've never used output naming panel before how would one know that it is necessary to have it open to prevent the empty name? Every other version of Capture One carried over the filename during processing w/o any extra effort on the users part- so I've never had to have output naming open before. I would recommend that this wasn't the default behavior. 0 -
After starting a support case, my eventual solution was to downgrade to 6.0.1. This also resolved an issue I was having where Capture One would crash while processing. 0 -
How can we 'lock-in' the image name setting in V6 ? Resetting the image name every time you start the software or create a new session is a step backwards. Previous versions of Capture One did not have this problem. Extra steps in naming process and having to reprocess an entire job, because of empty name, is time consuming. This needs to be fixed in a future upgrade. Yes, it is working exactly as it was programmed to work. The person responsible for this does not have to use this program in front of customers in the stress of a real working environment. Please correct this. Bill Mueller, Steve Smith Studios 0
