As far as the second question is concerned, when you choose to import your files, you insert your SD card, you select the folder into which you want to import your files (Import to -> store files; Collection -> Recent imports only), and that's all !! C1 will create a collection in the library (in Recent Imports) with the date of your import.

    1) Is there a way to disable the catalog/session 'chooser' which pops up when you go to open Capture One? I've got one catalog which I'll be using, so it seems pointless to have to say that I want to use it, every time I open up the application.
    ...

Close your catalog/session before closing CO and CO will show you the 'chooser' on start-up.

Close CO without closing the session/catalog separately and CO will auto-load the last session/catalog.
(Press and hold <alt> during CO start-up to get the 'chooser' instead.)

    Regards,
    Hans

OK, that makes sense. I guess, though, there's no way to force the import to place files into a new user collection, unless I create that collection first, then insert the card? From what I can see, import only gives me 3 options: Recent Imports, Capture Collection, or Selected Album (where I would need to create and highlight the collection before import).

    Do I understand that right?

I import in "Recent Imports" because you can, with a simple click, go back to it and work on your pictures very easily. These collections ("Recent Imports") are limited to 10, and the oldest is automatically suppressed when you create a new one by importing your pictures. They are not permanent collections !!
Capture collection is when you work in tethered mode, and selected album is a permanent set that you have to create.

Yes, that's it. I do agree that it would be convenient if you could select a collection from within the import dialog. Currently you have to select it first, then open the import dialog, then choose "Selected Album" as destination. A bit clumsy, IMHO.
