Free software corrupted my catalog - be aware
I was looking for new free pdf creation software to replace my older Adobe.
I downloaded and installed PDFCreator and PDFArchitect (it came along with it).
Later in the day I found that my MP catalog was now corrupted, as was Adobe reader. MP no longer recognized the folder names and longer file names. It also appeared to lose some of the ratings.
Obviously, the new free software is fully gone.
In the end, I did a removal of MP followed by a reinstall of the latest MP software, and I had to use a recent backup of the catalog to get everything back to normal. I did need to update the last few days of photos with rebuilds.
I also had to remove and reinstall Adobe Reader.
What a pain; but it does reinforce having a good backup strategy.
