If they are all scanned images ... are they all jpgs? (Just a check).

Are any scanned as monochrome? (C1 will not like them I suspect).

Can you find 50 that appear to be different in some way to the others (very large or very small perhaps?).

I would expect there is a log file that might offer some useful information - though 50 out of 4000+ may not be entirely easy to spot.

    Hi Grant
They are all scanned images and all jpgs

I scan everything in colour then change it in C1 now and before that I used LR or PS, after I have finished processing them I make a copy in another folder then put them in catagories prior to uploading them to my website, the originals I reset which means I end up with unprocessed jpgs and then they are moved to a holding folder in case i want to try processing them in another program, this is the folder that is giving me the problem.

You summed it up about finding 50 in 4000, it is a nightmare and believe me I have tried and will continue to do so.

Over the past six years I have scanned a lot of negatives, about 8000 and never had a problem till now and I use good gear and Silverfast Studio Ai. Anyway thanks for the reply and if I find the answer I will put it on the forum.

    Mike,

Are you using Win 7, 8 or 10?

There should be a log file that I would expect to be useful in working out what has apparently failed.

I use V7 and know where to find it there but I'm not sure if it would be the same or similar in 8 or 10.

    In 7 its location is

    C: > Users > {User Name} > Appdata > Local > CaptureOne > Logs

There are several logs. I'm not sure which would be most useful to you. How are you at readingand interpreting log files? (You probably don't need a detailed understanding to spot some failed images to check for.)

    Windows 10 build 1511

I found the log files in the same place and located the section where I loaded them but it just mentions the number of images successfully loaded I can't find anything about rejection, the strange thing is that every image is there in C1 none are missing the number is just 50 out, for the time being I am just ignoring the calculation and working on it until I find the answer.
I will continue to search the logs and thanks again for the info.

    Hi Mike,

    Very strange.

If you are sure that all of the files are there suppose there is no problem.

However it might be worth logging a "for information" Support Case with the Support Team just in case (no pun intended) what you are seeing is a symptom of something else that may be a problem gestating.

    Hi Grant

It is strange but I have not found a single image missing and I am able to compare the C1 catalogue with the folder in Windows and in LR, so unless I physically count every image there is nothing i can do and as I add images to the folder the number goes up but a different number than I see everywhere else, it kind of numbs your brain after a while.
Like most things we sometimes do not see the wood for the trees so I intend to leave it for a while and then go back and look with a fresh eye and mind.
I will bear in mind your suggestion and put together some notes to put in my info case.
Thanks again for your input it has been gratefully recieved, I do like C1 and although I have used LR for a long time and actually participated in beta testing the first version adobe do seem to have lost the plot so here I am on a new learning curve.

    regards Mike

Could '50' be the amount of folders in your file structure?

    Hi Thies
Sorry for not replying sooner, not sure what you mean but the breakdown of this is I have 3 catalogues in C1 one of which is dedicated to a collection of images scanned from negatives as mentioned in the above messages, the folder which is giving me this problem is on its own and contains only 4000 + images, most of which I processed in LR. For anyone interested the bulk of the collection is to be found at www.milansaradin.com where you can read the whole story, I am thinking of removing the whole catalogue from C1 and starting again with a new catalogue name except it takes a fair while to import them all, but i definitely will not be beaten onthis one, it intriques me now
