I think I may be seeing the same: after selecting a folder in the browser tab, the folder tree collapses/expands continuously here - without me touching the mouse/keyboard.
I've been haunted be a similar bug since 3.7.x, but previously, the folder tree would only collapse, but I don't think this new behaviour can be characterized as an improvement ;->
Obviously, it is not possible to do any editing when CO is in this state.

I got two computers with 4.x (not 4.5) one of them got the problem the other one does not. One is G5 based with 10.5.x OS and other with Intel 10.4.x OS, the G5 with 10.5 got the problem.

    Strange indeed.
Just being curious: what screensize (pixels) are you working with? I just remembered that some menus were to large for my 13" MacBook, so I wonder if this could be related - so far, I have only seen it happen when the tree pane was so long that the scrollbars appeared.

PowerMac G5 is not supported, was the short answer I recieved from Phase One Support. My G5 quad don't show the text in the browser, but may Macbook with Intel does.

So I now have to write off a £2200 computer to get the software to work properly 🤬 🤬

If you add your folder to the favorites, they show up in the tree. Then it's not so very hard to find out the way. But this is not what to be expected from a software that want's to be called proffessional. This bug to serious!

That trick seems to at least make it possible to work on my images - thanks!
But as you also point out, it shouldn't be necessary 😊

Problem is I copy all my RAW files into folders onto a seperate hard drive, I've marked the HD as a favourite but it still only shows a few of the folder names ☹️

Indeed not serious if a G5 would not be supported...

Same here. I have my data on an external HD. And 1/2 of the text is missing, and becomes more and more until all the folders have blank names.
