WHAT THE H3!! IS GOING ON.
YOUR POSTS STATE THAT WE WOULD HAVE SUPPORT BY THE END OF THE YEAR.
WE ARE NOW A WEEK INTO THE NEW YEAR AN NO SUPPORT.

FRANKLY MANY DON'T CARE ABOUT ABOUT 4 PRO. WE WANT A STABLE WORKING 3.7. (WHATEVER IT WILL BE CALLED) TO WORK ON LEOPARD!
WHAT ARE YOU GUYS THINKING?
I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING OF SWITCHING OUT MY BACKS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. LEAF IS NOW ROCK SOLID ON MAC WITH THE RELEASE OF LC11

Looks like version 3.7.outdated shall rule for yet a while! 0 -
Well this is just great news for me... My laptop was totaled in a car crash and now any new Macbook Pro I get to replace it is going to have Leopard on it... and you can't downgrade from a factory new OS. So, I have no choice but to run Leopard.
99.99% of what I use C1Pro for is tethered shooting with my P25+. I know that Canon tethered shooting doesn't work, but how does C1Pro work with Phase backs?
Jeff0 -
My Macbookpro with Leopard works with my P30+ tethered and CaptureOnePro 3.7.7 but for editing and developing I just prefer Lightroom. 0 -
To JeffSinger,
and you can't downgrade from a factory new OS
If you have or purchase a copy of Tiger you can install it on your new laptop. Boot from the install disc erase the volume then install Tiger. It's true that if there is a newer version of the OS present you can't install an older one but if you erase it you can. Be sure it is an Intel compatible version of Tiger.
Good Luck,
MT0 -
Quite right, as MT suggests, by an erase and total re-install you can downgrade the OS. It's probably all good fun and on top of that you'll get the valuable experience of re-installing all your other software. Chance is you'll end up on installer expert level.
It's kind of like going out buying yourself a new Merc just to find it doesn't hav e wheels and go solve the problem by getting hold of an old, rusty beaten-up Lada.0 -
You can actually clone your Macbook Pro with all the bells and whistles installed to another drive and setup another partition to install Tiger, then clone everything back. I've pasted instructions below courtesy of "Kappy" on the Apple forum that worked for me. You need at least a 20G partition for the OS.
I only needed this for tethered Canon MKII shooting. I can shoot tethered with the H25 from Leopard no problem, so just try your phase back out first before doing anything, you may be fine.
In case there's any doubt, I'm in the why the hell is this necessary camp too, this is a ridiculous way to spend our time.
"If you have an external Firewire drive you can clone your system to it, then restart from the external drive and reformat and partition your internal drive, then clone back.
First, prep the external drive:
1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
To clone to the external drive:
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the startup volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Drag the startup volume to the Source entry field.
5. Select the backup volume from the leftside list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Open the Startup Disk preference pane and select the external drive icon, then click on the Restart button. If all goes well you should startup from the external drive.
Once started up from the external drive re-partition your internal drive using Disk Utility. Then use the Restore option of Disk Utility to clone the external drive to the desired partition on the internal drive. Once the clone is completed open Startup Disk, select the internal OS X volume and click on the Restart button. Your computer should now startup from the internal hard drive."0 -
This is true. The only problem is that a lot of programs won't allow themselves to be cloned i.e. Photoshop. My machine crashed and I had to bring it back using Time Machine. However, PS (and a few others) wouldn't work properly.
When contacting Adobe support they told me that not all the program files would not necessarily copy properly like registry files etc.
Although you should be able to clone your machine back to a desired stage, that doesn't work in all cases. So, as a general method, that only becomes a theory.0 -
We just purchased the Leopard OS but can't upgrade until 3.7.7 and DB are compatible.
It is absolutely amazing to me that a company that depends upon it's customers, can keep us their customers with false promises.
There are other options, other backs out there. If my Studio can't depend upon Phase One, we'll go with someone else.0 -
That's odd about your experience with photoshop. I've gone through this exercise twice, with the MBP and earlier with the G5 to create a scratch partition for photoshop and there's been no issues. Are you sure you're cloning and not copying? But anyway it's still crazy we have to muck around like this now.

As the Adobe support guy told me, the cloning may work out, and in fact, it may not. In my case it probably didn't.
Wether you clone or copy doesn't really matter. Cloning is basically copying and that is where the problem apparently lies. If a program requiring activation is being copied, or cloned which will be recognized as copying, such problems might occur.
Not being an expert in the field i can only go by the explanations from Adobe as to why I ended up with a re-install to get back on track.0 -

3.7.7, leopard and digital backs do play nice... It's what I have running on my computer.... incompatibility is limited to the installer, and cf card importer. workarounds: http://www.phaseone.com/HOME/Content/Su ... nguageID=1
That being said... no false promises, development has been going on for sometime and the results will be here soon.. there were some early time estimations, but they were just that, estimations, not promises. We certainly understand the frustration, and believe me we want to get everything out asap, but we also cannot release anything until it is ready.0 -
I'm awfully sorry, but the workaround in the referred link did not help me much. The program got a little more stable but not much.
It would still quit unexpectedly quite often and as such be almost useless to me.
So my conclusion, to me, it was no fix at all.0 -
I don't have time to look though the archives.
But a Phase Admin person here said we would have support before the end of the year. That was 2007 unless he was using the Russian Orthodox or Mayan Sun calendar that are on different schedules.
I now realize there will most likely not be a 3.7.8 and you will have lied to us all and just release 4.0 and say this is the support.
Not cool at all and this is most likely my last Phase Product.
Phase has now fallen to level of Hasselblad , Leaf and Sinar misleading its customers.
Leaf has finally stepped up to the plate and made things happen with LC 11 Where is PHASE!!!????0 -
Ric,
There will be 3.7.8, no lying here.0 -
Jon I hope so.
Like someone in another post said. Development of V4Pro should come to a complete stand still and everyone there should concentrate on 3.7.8 so that pros can get back to work. Instead of buying new machines and having to spend half a day to zero out the drive and install tiger.
This is the fist time I have ever been held up in the three years of digital from a Phase Product. This was the problem of Leaf Hasselblad and Sinar owners.
Now Phase has really dropped the ball.
I hope that everyone there realizes the amount of work you have made Pro's rental houses and digital output house go through to have a stable product.
Not Cool at all.0 -
is it possible that phase one wait for the PMA 2008 and probably the new Canon to make an upgrade or a new 4 pro? 0 -
With the problems that exist, does anyone have a suggestion on what the best alternative is until the compatibility issue is worked out. (I have CS3 and Lightroom)
Thanks,
Greg0 -
if there will be a 3.7.8, then when?
there are many questions about why Phase has left the studio shooter out in the cold, I'm not sure why you would concentrate on a further version of 3 at this point , unless there is a time issue to getting 4 out there, or does Phase one wish to push non p back users away from tethered support, Has Phase officially decided to abandon an open Raw environment ?0
