Saving to memory card while shooting tethered
Hi, I am new to Capture One, currently using Pro for Sony.
I am testing tethered capture.
Is it possible to simultaneously save the captured images inside the memory card of the camera?
Or any other way to store them in the card while shooting tethered?
Thank you.

From the online Help.
"When working tethered, captured files are named on import using the Next Capture Naming tool, as the camera bypasses both the memory card and its internal naming system. "

There are other approaches to "tethered" operation but if a camera is supported for full tethering and that is what you are using then Capture One is taking control of the functionality offered by the camera and using the computer you are working from as the storage medium. Which is what tethering is about in this use case.
HTH.

Thank you Grant. It does makes sense.
Thanks for the information and your quick reply. I appreciate it.

I am a bit puzzled at the answer you got previously. To my knowledge, some cameras support simultaneous writing to the memory card while tethered in C1 and some do not. I think it's really that simple.
In the case of Sony, being a Sony shooter myself, I have never experienced any tether solution where the camera was able to write to the memory card and tether at the same time. Not with Sony's own capture software, not with LR with optional tether plugin, and not with C1.
This is a camera limitation, not a software one, IMHO.0 -
There are tools that allow fully controlled tethered shooting, including live view, combined with saving the shot to both, camera card and computer. It works with my Canon cameras, but I cannot tell for Sony.
CO doesn't offer that option for my Canon cameras. I think it's not even possible in CO because of PO's implementation of tethering. However, I'd really like to have it.
The only way I can do it is using another tool for tethering and making CO monitor a 'Hot Folder'.

For Canons the Canon Utility allows control of the camera and writing to the card(s) in the body as well as an external location. You can also provide file naming for the files going to the external location during tethered shooting.
You also have to specify which application you want them to be opened with when they arrive. This is, in effect, a "Hot Folder" approach and requires the Camera's control system to be run by the manufacturer's software application with C1 running alongside it.
This arrangement may work well enough in many situations for many people depending upon how well the camera manufacturer has covered the needs with their application and whether reliance on enforced processing within the camera makes the overall process a little slower than might be desired. For people working at high speed in a studio with clients filling the seats it may be a challenge, for a personal Landscape shoot maybe not so much.
Since the perception of "speed" will be based on many factors there really is no way to offer useful guidance in use case suitability other than to suggest people try out the options and make their own decisions.
