5D Mark IV Questions
I started another topic on part of this in another section of the Forum yesterday, but no responses yet, so thought I would try here. Also have some more experience after working with my new setup today.
Canon 5d Mark IV, Mac High Sierra (latest version), 2015 MacBook Pro 15" + iPad Pro (for Capture Pilot)
I am totally new to tethering and Capture One - just set up everything for the first time yesterday. I am connecting to everything fine and everything seems to be communicating, but here are my questions:
(1) In Capture One it shows my camera has "No Battery" - is that maybe because I have the optional Canon Battery Grip mounted?
(2) Focusing in Live View - this one has me pulling my hair out! (if I don't use Live View everything makes sense as I can see and set my focus points and modes in the viewfinder). Live View seems to be working, but I am stumbling around not knowing the proper order of things to do to attain proper focus. Once I am tethered up, I turn on Live View on the camera and the camera monitor comes on as usual, but CO does not recognize that. So, I activate Live View inside CO and the Live View Image shows up on my Laptop in CO, but the Camera monitor goes black? So, then I hit the Live View button on the camera again and it comes back on? I guess that is the way it is supposed to work??
Now for the confusing part... How should I set the focus point? Sometimes I can touch the screen on the camera and it will let me select the focus point, but other times not? Sometimes I have to click the AF button inside CO, release the shutter and then I can get that on-camera control back. I cannot figure out how the AF controls work at all inside CO? Sometimes the AF button turns orange and I have to click it to get camera control back. Sometimes the fine tune focus controls seem to work in real time on the laptop and other times not. I am totally lost as far as focusing inside Capture One. My guess is everything is working, but I just have no idea what is controlling what and when?
(3) Capture Pilot connection is also a mystery. Once I tell CO to connect Capture Pilot, it just automatically connects without me even having to choose a network? No idea how it is finding that, but it works, so can't complain! I have taken a few shots from Capture Pilot and can change camera settings from there, but correct me if I am wrong, there is no way to re-focus in Capture Pilot - is that correct?
Thanks for any help!

Hi, how have you connected your mark IV? via usb? 0 -
Connected via Tether Tools 15-ft USB3 cable to MacBook Pro USB3 port.
Also ordered Tether Tools TetherBoost Pro USB 3.0 Core Controller last night to see if that helps some of the issues?0 -
