C1-6 Not working at all
Ok... Just installed the upgrade to C1-6. It does not work at all, just freezes. And images that are color tagged from before (v.5.2) are just a mess.
What is going on? Need some serious help here.
Update: So I have at least one session from before that works. It was shot tethered.
I´ll try to uninstall-reinstall and if that doesn´t work I´ll create a support case.
☹️

I always unistall the previous version since CO4, and I installed ALL thinkable update since that version was in beta. If that does not suffice, I do a full uninstall which means the supporting files from the default session, user config, workspaces, recipes, and so on. It is an extra effort but it helped me more than once. 0 -
I did uninstall the previous version (v.5.2.1), and I even removed everything as described in the knowledge base article 1134 on how to completely uninstall C1.
Now I am downloading v.5.2.1 again, will install it to see if that one still works.0 -
Well. v.5.2.1 works fine, v.6 just freezes.
Ran Win7´s own memtest, nothing wrong.
Maybe I should try to downoad the 32bit version of v.6?0 -
CO6 32 bits sounds as a good trial to go. Whether or not it is successful, open a support case. I assume you have Win7 x64.
Note that you can have both CO5 and 6 installed on the same machine (I have CO3, 4, 5, 6 on 1 test machine).0 -
Same problem with the 64 bit version on Win 7 64 bit.
Loads up, and tries to search directories and quickly grinds to a complete halt.
For note, it was installed with version 5.2.1, which now crashes badly when run (generates some sort of crash report).
To test, I uninstalled 5.2.1, which still results in version 6 crashing as it did before.
Uninstalled/reinstalled version 6 which is exactly the same.
Going to download 32 bit version and see what happens. Will report back!0 -
I second you people.
At the start up CO6 64-bit just freezes. Uninstalling CO5 doesn't help.
Rats! (But it doesn't surpise me though )) 😎0 -
This is some advice I got from support:
"This could be Open CL that is causing this issue.
Please see this article
http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageid=1
We recommend that you first of all update the driver for your graphics card.
If this does not help then there is a file in the article which will allow you to disable open CL"
The registry script that you can download in the article linked to above turns off open cl, it made at least the 32bit version work on my computer. Did not help with the 64bit version.
Let me know how or if it works out for you!

Can I? You know, my old serial no. wont work any longer. I reinstalled v.5.2.1 at a point and only the new serial no. would let me activate it, so I guess if I were to have both versions installed I would use both my activations for that. A waste to have both activations used on one computer.
Yes, have opened a support case. My OS is Win7 64bit, Intel i7-920, Nvidia GTX260, 12GB ram.
Edit: Just realized this post may sound a bit impolite. That was not my intention. 😉0 -
OK, 32 bit mode crashed as it started to show the welcome screen, so even worse than the 64 bit version.
Stuck it in Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) Compatibility mode and it works fine. So not sure what that says, but hey, not too impressive!
Downloading the latest driver for my graphics cards and see if that changes anything...will keep posted!0 -
Used the registry file listed on this page:
http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageid=1
This disables OpenCL and instantly the 32 bit version started working without compatibility mode.
Decided to uninstall and install the 64 bit version again. It appears to work fine, so they're clearly on the right track with the OpenCL issue. Going to try the upgraded driver when it finishes downloading and reenable OpenCL. Shall see what happens, but even without, it's now perfectly usable. Did have a complete freeze up trying the Spot tool, but I'm not holding it against the software, just yet!0 -

Maybe I should try that too...
Happy to hear things are starting to work out for you!
I have updated my graphics driver as well, but that made no difference for me. Please let me know.

Well, upgraded the graphics card driver, and no difference at all. Still needs OpenCL disabled to function.
That said, I note that it says a known limitation is it will only work with one GPU and to operate, only one must be enabled. I'm not prepared to go to one screen (unless I'm missing what this means), so no OpenCL will do me for now!
That Spot tool crashed the software a second time. Looking a bit buggy.....0 -
Looks like you can add me to the list of users who have the same issues. I run Windows Vista 64 and have a dual video card - Nvidia GTX295. My system freezes up the same as the OP's using the C1-6 64 bit version - with and without the OpenCL enabled. I upgraded my video driver to the latest version - and still no joy.
I really don't want to disable either software or hardware features just to get this software to run. I think I'll just pass my experience over to Phase One for their review - and keep using Lightroom until these issues are resolved.0 -

I only use one monitor, but the graphics card supports two, there are two connections on the back of it. Most newer graphics cards do. I don´t really understand this, as long as one is not using a dual monitor setup one should be fine, I would think.
Maybe there is something one has to disable somewhere?0 -
Would it not be nice if the product was finished and fully tested before meeting the masses?
BETA-version are for testing and getting rid of trouble in the code. They are free since the user will pay with their time when using/testing the unfinished product.
Is the quality of their mfdb of the same order?
Yes I tried the 64x version since professional work eat a lot of ram and I expect the immediate future to be 64x.0 -

A GPU or Graphical Processing Unit is the processor chip on the video card. This is not related to one screen/dual screen type of setup. Fairly recently video cards with 2 GPUs start to show up. OpenCL is not yet ready for that, at least in combination with CO6. Can't speak for other software.0 -
Just to set the record straight:
OpenCL is a really new interface enabling compute intensive programs to utilize the image processing capabilities of many new GPU types.
AMD and NVidia unfortunately does not create full support for SLI "coupled" GPU cards yet. This means "double" cards like the 285GTX and 295GTX in theory IS supported. We have successfully tested the 285GTX under Windows 7, using the "260.99" 64 bit driver.
If you have 2 physical GPU card with SLI setup (used for games mostly) or an older version Macbook Pro you have 2 GPU cards in the system. This setup is not supported by the driver for OpenCL (yet).
Also the "dual cards" from AMD, like the 5970 is supported (all requires the relatively new drivers)

I have only one graphics card, Nvidia Geforce GTX260. No SLI or whatever enabled. I don´t do any gaming.
The newest driver installed, the 260.99 64 bit driver. No joy. ☹️0 -
Did you follow the "clean up" advise for a new install? If so I would contact suport.
-LKU0 -
Have contacted support, and yes, I did follow the how to completely uninstall... advice. Don´t think it really matters, though.

Support tells me the Nvidia GTX260 is not compatible with C1´s handling of open cl, and hopefully they will have a solution soon.
That´s good news, they´re working on it. 😊
But I am a little surprised it does not work even with open cl turned off, neither turned off in preferences nor with the registry script.0 -
Just turned off this OpenCL thing.
THE PROGRAM STILL FREEZES AT START UP.
Bravo, CO60 -
I have a strange error message at start up freeze:
"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."
The message appears to come from ImgCoreSocket, whatever that is.0 -
Ouch, the software randomly takes at least 5 mins from pressing process till the ONE image comes off the batch list finished as a jpeg (not even a tiff). Me thinks they didn't test this software at all before putting it out. Then tried it again and it does it in a few secs as normal. Weird!
Thankfully I only bought the ordinary version or I'd feel really stung, as opposed to moderately stung. It can sit around until they get some updates sorted out I guess.
Oh, and on the OpenCL matter, all I can say is that I'd have expected that customers wouldn't even have to know about that detail. If the hardware features were available and suitable, the software would use them, and if not, it'd do its best with whatever was available. Nobody wants to specify a system around raw conversion software anyhow, because it basically doesn't require that much processing horsepower to do it (unless programmed badly).0 -

I haven't seen this before but it sounds like it could be a permissions issue. Make sure that you run the software as an Admin and create a support case to help us resolve the issue.0 -

I think this issue is deserving of it's own thread. In the meantime, a clean uninstall/reinstall is your best bet for a speedy solution.

Yes, I have Admin priviledges. CO5 works alright on the same computer.0 -

the gtx260 is a very widely used videocard and a great one too - so when will this fix come ? My C1 6 wont start at all on my desktop due to being incompatible with my system the report says ! - win 7 64bit. It runs on my laptop, same system - different videocard. Could this be down to the gtx260 !?0 -

Hi Bas,
my thoughts excactly, a very widely used card, and I would think it strange that it should not suffice in any respect. I´m not a very computer savvy person, though. Photoshop runs just fine with the open GL thing.
C1 6 64bit runs on my laptop too, with open CL greyed out, GPU ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650. Guess that´s the limitation of the graphics card? But only until it eats up all the RAM. I have seen capturone.exe use 3.5GB just by browsing a few jpgs. There is another thread here about the memory issue.
I use Win7 64bit as well.
I´d like to ask you to create a support case. Later today I will reinstall C1 6 64bit on my tower, and send support a log file. Might be a good idea for you too. I suppose the more info they have, the faster the fix will come. The good neews is they are aware and working on it.
