When I try, all is locked on (all is "grey" on the menus) and it's also impossible to quit : only "force to quit".
I have yet an old version of Capture One LE 3.7 on my computer (may be a reason ?) and I use Léopard.
Can you help me please ? Thanks !

Is it the image import of CO4 or CO 3.7 LE that you are having troubles with?

    With CO4 (I dont try with 3.7)...

I just uninstall CO 3.7 LE... and I have try again with CO4 to Import Images, but it's allways the same thing !

Maybe, the solution is : uninstall & install again CO4 ???

CO3 and CO4 are fully independent and don't interfere, so I do not expect any improvement after removal of one of them or re-installation of the other.
I have not tried Leopard much yet with CO4. Do you run on a PPC or Intel based Mac (in other words, what Mac do you have)?

And: is CO4 running fine apart from image import?

    Well...
I just make a little experience.

I have try the same with an iBook G4 (Power PC), with Mac OS 10.4 and...
    everything is ok !
Just after, I try to use again the camera/card reader with my Mac Mini (Intel), and...
Impossible to Import Images... and at this time, I realise that nothing is running on CO4 when the camera/card reader is connect ! Not only "Import Images...", all the menus !
When the camera/card is unconnect everything is ok.
So there is a bug between the camera/card reader and Intel ?!?!

    Thanks for the answer.

    Hello !

I have try again this morning to Import Images, without the camera/card reader and the result is the same : impossible to import & everything became "grey" on the menus (the same as the captures).

So, I just want to said that I'm a professional photographer and for me CO4 is the best tool for working with my DNG (from Leica M8)... I will be happy to use this function too !

    Best regards,
    Pierre

    Hi Pierre,
Image Import run fine on my Intel based Mac (MacBook Pro) with Leopard. When I see that in the Capture One menu you have grey out options like About.. and Preferences, I suspect more is going wrong there.
No solution for you from my part I am afraid. I suggest you log a support case on Phase One's web site.

I agree that Leica M8 with CO4 is a great combination!

I have an ongoing dialog with Phase one and I sent a reference to this thread so they now know of your problem too and should try to solve it and, maybe, post it here.

Thank you, Caryl and Paul !

I have try with the USB cable, between my Mac & my Leica... the problem is still there !

So, I can work wilth CO4 and my DNG, from the hard drive ("Folders"/"Librairy"), but...

    Best regards,
    Pierre

Pierre, you are lucky you can get your folders to work. The only time I can work is if i put a folder into favorites and then only sometimes. My program is all mixed up. I import from a card reader or from my files on an external harddrive and never from the camera.

I have a similar problem. When I try to attach a CF card via firewire reader CO4 completely locks up. I know the import dialogue is behind the CO4 window but I cannot get to it. The only option is to Force Quit CO4 and then manually drag the images from the card to my destination folder, eject the card and then re-launch CO4. It is not elegant and not what I want clients to see me do every time I come away from the camera with a card.

    Hi Chris,
I tried to replicate your setup with a Sandisk Extreme IV CF firewire reader. No problem occurred here. I used both Firewire 400 and 800 cables on MacBook Pro, OS X 10.5.5 (latest) and CO4.1.2 (latest). Your setup might differ.
It could be wise to wait and see what CO4.5 brings later this month. I say this in particular because the import function of CO4.0/4.1 was not all that well developed IMHO.

I'm having exactly the same problem with a Macbook Pro running Leopard and Capture One Pro 4.5. It's like the window is there, but behind the main window, and therefore unclickable.

And it also happens if you go File Import Image even without a card in.

    Any solutions to this yet?

Not that I am aware of. Best suggestion I can give you is to open a support case with Phase One.

In case you encounter the disappearing import window problem, a solution seems to be to delete the preferences file located in:
    User>Library>Preferences>com.phaseone.captureone.plist

Please note that if you uninstall the application normally, that is only by deleting the application folder these preferences will remain in place and thus deleting the application will not solve similar problems.
To uninstall completely, please follow steps in Knowledge Base article #1164

in case this issue reoccurs, please contact Phase One Support so we could find a common denominator to these incidents and thus help us understand and correct the problem.
