Windows RT lacks the power to properly handle raw files, just like iOS and Android tablets. Windows 8 tablets do have the power and can run CO7.

Some of the newer Tablets and touch screen/slate devices may have enough performance to be somewhat usable. You will need one that runs 64Bit Windows. The top end of the new Dell Venue 11 range might be enough. Intel i5 processor and a decent amount of memory. Good screen resolution although whether you can really make use of it for editing on a small device I am not sure.

The cost is about the same as thin laptop. I assume that some weight will be saved but if you add a keyboard (if only as one way to protect the screen when travelling) the weight difference may not be that much. I suspect it may be a year or two before your wish is fully satisfied.

Meanwhile - when travelling I take a Netbook, mostly for backup purposes. Cannot run C1 but it is happing with something like FastStone which I run as a portable application to provide a rapid assessment facility and, if needed, a browser to share images with others. It has basic editing and cropping facilities that, for me, are good enough when on the road.

I do not use it as a base for an image library - only recent shoots are stored on it and only for a short period (usually).

    HTH.

    I travel with a 1.3 kg Ultrabook.

My images and my COP7 catalog reside on a 2.5" external harddisk at all times.

Whether travelling or at home I connect the disk to the computer at hand. Up and running in seconds, no synchronization necessary.

I have suggested to PhaseOne to streamline this concept by also making presets, profiles etc. portable.

    Cheers,
    Mogens
