Exporting to an application

I have been using Express 7 and am upgrading to Pro 7. While I really like the way the software handles my images I have had one serious issue when processing. If I want to do some external editing I can export to an external application but CO does not seem to import the created tiff file it sends to the external application so, when I am finished doing layers work or some other specialized processing, the file is not available for me to continue processing. If I move to import that single file I lose all of the others and, since I often have a number of images to externally process, this is a bit of an issue.

Am I missing something somewhere? Have I failed to set some preferences flag or does something else need to be set? Is there any way to get CO to automatically import the file it exports to an external application? I have not had this problem in LR, Aperture (yes, I am on a Mac) or the new Dxo OP 9.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    No, you are not missing something. You apparently work with catalogs in CO7. However, with respect to the process-external app-import workflow, this is still not available in CO7 as it is in other apps you mentioned.

    Capture One has -historically seen - been setup as a tool in a linear, one-way directed workflow. Once you process to a TIFF, you leave CO for that image and continue.
    Now it has a catalog. Fine. People are using it. Switching over from other apps. But the catalog does not have all the bells and whistles from the other apps like the two-way workflows.

    Maybe in a future update or (more probably) upgrade.
