Export Variant as DNG?

Hi, I am just wondering if you can export a variant as a DNG?

When I say crop the image, and export variant as DNG, then open it in CaptureOne, Photoshop or lightroom, it is the whole image without the changes (as if I exported original).

Perhaps that is the purpose of DNG, to preserve the orig, and only apply the changes, and as lightroom and photo shop use different metadata/change information it does not work.

  This is the case I as understand it. The conversion is from one original manufacturer's RAW format to an Adobe promoted alternative RAW standard.
