How do I merge images on laptop into main computer?
Hello
I have my image library on my desktop system, using Capture One v5 DB. Recently I installed C1 on my laptop (yesterday!) so I can preview images that I'm taking while travelling. I don't want to do any edits to the images, though, until I can figure out how to move edited images (when I get home) from the laptop to the main system, preserving both the RAW files and the changes.
I tried searching, but I don't seem to be able to find anything. I'm sure it's because I'm using the wrong terminology to search ('Merge', 'Combine' didn't help - and 'Move' brings up 22 pages - which I'm still wading through.)
Can someone, please, at least tell me what Capture One calls this process of merging one "catalogue" (to use the Lightroom term) into another?
Thanks in advance...
Seth

Seth,
You have many options, all of which can be changed to accommodate your workflow. The simplest is to "Pack" all of your images as EIP files within Capture One. From there simply move the EIP file from one machine to another and the entire file will retain the RAW and any adjustments.
See more here;

The other option is to move the entire session folder (Capture Folder with "Capture One" Subfolder as well as COL file) from one machine to the next.0 -
Hi Seth,
Like Seth says, there are a lot of ways to do this and I'm a Mac user so this may not relate to you at all but I often have jobs that are both in studio and on location and i like to merge them too. I shoot tethered to my MacPro in the studio and tethered to my MacBook Pro on location. I then merge both sessions to the desktop machine (where I have a bunch of mirrored drives).
For me, the easiest method has been to reboot the MacBook Pro in "target" mode by holding down the t key on startup and connecting it by firewire to the Mac Pro. It then shows up in the Finder like an attached external drive.
Then, on the Mac Pro in CO1, I open the "studio" session and simply use the Library tab to navigate to the location session on the laptop. I highlight the enclosed Capture folder, select all the images I want and drag them to the local capture folder at the top of the Library tab window.
It works like a charm and brings all my adjustments along.
Hope this helps.
