I think that when shooting tethered you are more vulnerable for image file corruption when the tethering application (i.e. Capture One) crashes compared to shooting to a card. I do not know exactly how CO4.x works regarding caching the image versus writing to disk and closing the file (technical issues, that's for sure). This could lead to a situation that you have viewed a capture in CO4 (cached) but was able to retrieve it after the crash because it was not entirely or properly written to disk.

That does not help you for the images you lost and I do not have a solution for that. For future large tethered shootings, I advise to restart the Mac after a few hundred images to flush caches and regain memory allocated by CO4 (I suspect CO4 to grow memory wise to a level it might crash during the shoot).

I am not a tethering geek, so I immediately give my opinion for a better one.

    Hi
Are you certain about the version number in which this issue happened for you is 4.6.3?

I am puzzled about that and asking because version 4.6.3 was first relased yeasterday on the 11. of March same day as you posted this issue.
It is important because in version 4.5 the problem you described existed. The risk of loosing capture files if you switched off the Mac with force.
We got several reports on this and found the reason. So a change was made in capture One version 4.5.2 on Mac. And we haven't heard any reports on this issue since then.

Please double check that you are 100% sure about what version you did experience the problem.
If this is a version 4.5.2 or later please post a supportcase on Phase One support web ( direct link http://www.phaseone.com/Content/Support.aspx ) to give Phase One a chance to trouble shoot and solve the problem.
    best regards
    Ole

I apologize, I was using the earlier version at the time of the incident. I did update to the new version yesterday.

    Still an early morning here!
    Thank you for your help

    Hi again

I hope then that the old version you were using was 4.5.0 or 4.5.1.
    Please check.
