In general you can't connect a camera and import directly into Capture One. It treats connecting with a cable as attempting tethered capture. (I believe there may be exceptions for a few models of camera for technical reasons.) You either have to connect with the cable and use Explorer to get the images on the computer, or put your memory card into a reader in which case you can import directly into Capture One.

I've always been able to upload through USB when I had only my D3. The first time I plugged the D750 in CaptureOne was running and a pop up asked if I wanted it to do something, maybe download a driver or something like that for compatibility with the D750 and I agreed. Ever since I can't upload anymore with the D3.

I do not know the inner workings in C1, but you may try:

    - Disconnect camera from the C1 computer USB
    - Open the Preferences dialog and select the Capture pane (Top menu bar -> Edit -> Preferences... Capture)
    - Set Camera to "Not selected" and disable C1 support for tethered capture if enabled (Nikon may be sufficient)
    - Close the Preferences dialog

Connect the D3 camera and let us know if it made a difference.

I've tried disabling tethering support but it didn't help. Also, if I'm importing using Windows Explorer and open C1 it will stop the import.

I suspect C1 detected a USB PTP device (D750), prompted you to decide if you wanted to install C1's driver software for tethering and got a Yes from you. The USB on your D3 is likely set to mass storage mode (not PTP), and import worked, the D750 is probably fixed to PTP and does not provide the option to select Mass storage.

As disabling tethering did not work, there may still be some way to uninstall tether driver(s) and revert to your previous state. I think you should present your problem to the support team and ask for advice/help.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to play around with a few more things to see if I can get it right. I do think I triggered the problem by agreeing to install the driver software or whatever the pop-up was. If I can't resolve it after playing around for a while I will contact support to see if they can help. Whatever the outcome is I'll update this post with the results.
