Sub menu in top tool bar not working

Hi I use 8.1.1.20 on a iMac 5k and I cannot open the sub menu in the top tool bar for the icons such as crop or leveling... does anyone knows why?

    Just checking, you hold your mouse button pressed (longer then necessary for a click) on the icon?
