Capture One can get a huge benefit by having a good GPU in your Mac. What kind of GPU are you currently using? My first suggestion is to check whether OpenCL Support is turned on or off (Edit -> Preferences -> General -> Hardware Acceleration (Use OpenCL for)) and trying to check if the performance is better have it set to "Auto" or to "Never". I have made the experience that having an old GPU installed with activated OpenCL support will slow down Capture One significantly, while a fast GPU can improve export hugely.

I am using C1 7 Pro and LR 4 and can not see a winner when i comes to export speed. However, C1 7 Pro is on my machine much faster in overall performance.

I have mid 2010 Macbook Pro (MacBookPro6,1) which comes with 2 GPUs:
    1. Intel HD Graphics with 288 VRAM
    2. NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 512MB VRAM

Processor is Intel Core i5 2,53 GHz, and running Mac OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard

I changed OpenCL from Auto to Never and can't see any difference. But I'm currently exporting and maybe it doesn't change while it's ongoin, so I'll try once more when finished.

Still I think that if I had it on Auto it should automatically chose a better option for me..

When you change the setting, restart CO7 and try again.

Also, you need 10.7 or 10.8 if I recall correctly. The OpenCL feature of Snow Leopard is not as effective but I am blank on details why.

There is a tool (gfxCardStatus) that let you see which GPU is currently in use.

Just checked the KB article on OpenCL and the GT 330M is not listed.

You are right, Auto "should" choose the best available option for you. However, I would never rely on an "Auto" setting when I have the option to choose for my own 😉

Well, your hardware is not bad, however, you will surely agree it is not the newest one. C1 7 has introduced a completely new rendering engine which will definately needs much more processing power than all of its predecessors. C1 6 was much faster, Version 7 puts my Hardware to its limits, too. Lightroom has also changed its rendering engine with version 4 with the results that lot of online forums are full of complaints about the bad performance. LR 5 has changed nothing on its rendering engine and is a little bit faster on my machine, but still much slower than LR 3.

One issue might be that you are comparing the latest version of C1 with its all new rendering engine with a relatively old one from LR. I would advice you to raise a support case just to ensure it is not a software issue at all.

Sadly you can't do much about the Graphics cards in a Macbook, so not an option to upgrade there. The ones you have in the MBP simply are not fast enough to be enabled for use with Capture One.
However, what you can do is upgrade to an SSD disk, and put 4 Gb of ram more. While this won't help your processing times, it will speed-up the general handling of the program.
    Also, upgrade to 10.8.

A lot has happens in the world of computing in 3-years, and with the new V7 pipeline in Capture One we take advantage of that. The downside to that, is that the computer needs a bit of muscle to run CO, especially when processing.

    But compare the image-quality from LR3 to CO7. You'll be amazed 😊

Yes I compared it and that's why it's a shame that it takes long time to process the files.. But still, the results are way better in C1 to my eye and I guess I'll just probably will have to wait longer but get better results. So I guess it may be worth it.

Switching OpenCL to "Never" didn't make any difference – I guess that "Auto" did what it should and just disabled it.

Anyway thanks a lot for your quick response and help, much appreciated 😊
