I do not work with such number of images in the session, but I have read similar reports here limiting to 1000 or less (500, 300?). Count of 1000 sounds like a good starting point. No idea about any changes on this in CO5.

Over 2000 20+Mb files seems a bit high for any software. Not sure, the biggest session I've ever had had 1346 pictures with Canon 5D MkII and C1 was fine with it.

I was setting the colour balance and lens correction on 700 P30 images last night with C1 4.8.2. After 20 minutes I decided to go and watch some TV while it finished. Why on earth does this take so long? C1 3.7.8 was much faster. And what on earth is it doing when it fires up? The library navigator is frozen for several minutes while C1 seems to be doing a disk scan of some sort ....

It's loading the previews from the COP files. And it takes a while to do corrections because it has to save your new settings into the COS files.
It's going to take a while when you have 700 images and especially if you're not using some super fast raided hard drives.

Agreed, but 20 minutes is 1200 seconds, so that's nearly 2 seconds per cos file and I'm using RAID0 for my work drive. There must be something seriously wrong with the file handling, methinks.
