Can 1.6 run in parallel with 1.5?
Any database changes?0 -
Thank you for reaching out to users. I have signed up. But I also would like to know if MP 1.6 can run in parallel with MP 1.5. I don't want to corrupt my existing catalogs. Should 1.6 be tested on a separate partition or computer? 0 -
It can yes - should just be a simple case of renaming the app or installing to another directory. Never use beta for mission critical or install in working environments though. This pretty much goes for all beta software regardless of vendor.
I recommend you do a parallel installation and work on copies of the catalogs/databases as a safety. We are pretty confident it's solid, but we'd like more milage before we commit to a public release.
As always.. back up, back up, back up!0 -
Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm in. 😄0 -
well i am testing the Beta right now with C1 8 on imac 27" El-Capitan 10.11
there is still no Big changes on MP but its look stabil , i sent yesterday my first feedback to develop team
the Text Size are still have smool look in MP . the thunmbinal changes are not comming from C1 8 automaticly !
good job to Phase One team and keep gowing 😄0 -
Unfortunately, for personal reasons, I am not in a situation to be able to participate in the testing process.
However, I am exited to hear/see that Media Pro will remain a stand alone DAM and is under further development! Imho, it is the best file manager on the market in its class (at least for the Mac platform).
Again, I really like to option/combination to have CO.x in sessions for photographic workflow and Media Pro for its later administration complementing and enhancing each others leading market strengths....0 -

I am not that exited. There has been no further developement at all. 1.6 is just a needed adoption to the changing environment. E.g. Win 10. I hoped to see a new keyword management like the one in CO9 and some other improvements. But there is really nothing new at all.
Probably no one want to mess with all the old code. And in that case we will never see any real improvements or new functionality before someone do a complete rewrite based on some new architecture. The question is if that will happen.0 -

Tried to do a parallel install on Windows 8.1, but the installer refuse to install because of the existing installation. "Please uninstall previous version and try again". Has anyone managed to do a parallel installation in a Windows environment?0 -
Please tell me they've fixed the auto update where it will work once again?
Also, is it too much to hope that when you do turn on auto update for a folder, it turns green like it use to, indicating that you had turned it on.
I don't really care about new features...I would just like to see it function with all the features it use to have finally working again correctly. It's been years waiting for this...perhaps this is the time...I can dream can't I?0 -
Hi,
When trying to install the beta, I got the same result:
"Please uninstall previous version and try again".
So, how to proceed?

I'm on a MAC 10.9.5.
I moved Media Pro to a new folder I called Old Media Pro. Then the Beta installed with no problem.[quote="Lenni" wrote:

Other than the OS support upgrades, have any new features been added? Nothing really stood out to me.
FWIW, like others in this group, I'm stoked to see development is picking up again. But there are quite a few bugs (like the auto-update icon mentioned here) your team should start digging into.0 -
Having had problems with Capture One 9 catalogs, I'm interested in a DAM solution, but would like to see a roadmap of planned development before committing the time and effort required to import my images. I can't risk starting to use a product with an uncertain future. 0 -

Surely that is what the beta testing project is about is it not? At least in part it should be.
I assume there is a formal problems reporting process in place rather than relying on random comments here in the forum?0 -
i ve been sending feedbacks to Phase one devilopers since 3 days ago
i am using Imac 27" mittel 2011 with 24 RAM and SSD HHD and the last update from OSX El Capitan also i am using
C1 8 NOT C1 9 in sessions Mode, its look stabil and with no crashs at all,
the auto Update ist not working in the Beta.
the Text size " MP Designe" look very smoll with 27" Monitor.
the Images changes comming from C1 8 are been showing all in MP 😊 but you have to updated manually by making
a dobul klick on the top image name., and the Thumbinal or rending Image works littel slow .
NO Crash ! 😁
Phase one keep gowing0 -
Does the switch from "Union" to "Intersection" in the Organize Panel on Mac work again? It had lost its function with 1.5. 0 -
Beta downloaded on my Mac and seems to run stably in X.11.2. However it still refuses to open a selected image in Capture One Pro 9 and opens the catalogue that the image is in instead. But if I ask it to open the image in Photoshop it finds the RAW file and opens it in ACR without a problem. MP still doesn't show C19 edits. I really am wondering what the benefit of this software is because it does not integrate at all well with Capture One 9. If they don't crack it with this version I am asking for a refund. 0 -

In the "Catalog Fields" tab you will find "Catalog Sets"
Click on the triangle icon, create a new Catalog Set and name it. I named mine C1 Edits. Drag the pics you want to edit into that set. If you open from within that set, only those pics will open in C1 Sessions.
This has been the case as long as I remember.0 -
Thanks for your input to the beta testing of Media Pro 1.6. Please remember to submit your findings via the feedback system as outlined in https://www.anpdm.com/public/run-survey ... 4750447640 [quote="PeterBex" wrote:

What rendering engine are you using? MP1.6 should render adjustments up to CO9.0.3 Sessions when the engine is set to Phase One (See /Preferences/Media Rendering and possibly disable the use of embedded Previews and Thumbnails as well).
MP does not have strong integration with CO Catalogs - remember that in a Session, the adjustments of each file is stored in the CaptureOne subfolder next to the images themselves. This is where MP looks when it renders images with adjustments, but this does not apply for CO Catalogs.0 -
the main problem that i found since i changed my workflow to Phase One Capture one is the CATALOG and SESSION Ability.
i found that there is no benifed to work with Catalog, becaus in Session Mod you can have moor flexibilty fo gowing around with athours usede Programms.0 -
Thank you to Pah and Jimmy D Uptain for the input. I will investigate Sessions more thoroughly. I've been using catalogues for years so old habits die hard I suppose. 0 -

Hi,
It seems that it is not possible to install this beta without uninstalling the existing version in Win 7.
Renaming existing program folder does not allow installation.
Has anybody found a solution for this?
Also no comments from pah@phaseone.com for this.

Sorry for the confusion. The ability to have both Media Pro 1.5 and Media Pro 1.6 installed on the same system is only possible on Mac currently.
Windows-users have to uninstall an existing version of Media Pro before it is possible to install another version. If there are any issues uninstalling or installing versions of MP dont hesitate to contact us through the feedback form.
And remember only to use the beta for testing on items that are not critical to you.0 -
Here is what I have experienced and sent to the Beta team
Seems to be far more stable. No crashes yet.
issues so far:
Auto-Update button does not turn folder green when selected.
Media Pro will suddenly refuse to actually search. Enter info, click find and media pro instantly makes a the "task completed sound" No search, no results...just a bonk sound.
Restarting media pro is the only fix. A search with the same info after restart will find images.
Searching using find - keyword
takes an unusually log time or I think so. Searching with "file name" selected or any of the other ones I tried worked with in a reasonable time frame.
My catalogs are no larger than 8 Gb if possible. I do not trust the size/image count limit bring unlimited. Media Pro can not handle it.
MAC OSX 10.9.5
MacBook Pro0 -
Totally crashes cant even open it. The only way it opens if I reset the application. Delete all the prefs and dissociate the catalog. Sent in at least 5 crashes before I gave up. Maybe i'll try a reboot.
