    Jer,
At this time this is not a Bug, as Media Pro 1.3.1 does not support Windows 8.
We hope to have an update shortly after the Windows 8 official release date (Oct. 26th).

Feel free to resolve it as By Design if you like, but from where I'm standing it's a bug. Capture One installs just fine on Windows 8 (and runs just fine in trial mode), and it doesn't "support" Windows 8 either at this point. =^)

If you need or want any help testing out a pre-release build of Media Pro that will install on Windows 8, please let me know. I'm hoping to port my digital workflow over to Phase One ASAP and my editing machine is running Windows 8.

I also recently upgraded my primary machine to Win8 (which I'm falling in love with), ...

I have to purchase a new laptop soon (cracked screen on my older XP machine).
I am debating on buying it now, and getting a Win 7 machine (similar to my desk top), or waiting until Nov 1 for a Win 8 machine. I hate upgrading OS's - never quite the same.

Anyway - can you tell me why you like Win 8 so much?
I have read that you need a touch screen to really use it, and I don't see the need/desire for a touch screen yet.

    Thanks,

    Jim

This is getting a bit off topic but I guess indirectly it still relates to the reported problem with Win8. Personally, I would buy the laptop now (or the next time you see a great deal) instead of waiting until the screen goes completely out.

As for the OS, if you don't want the hassle of upgrading an OS then I am quite sure you don't want to bother dealing with incompatibility issues just so you can have the latest Microsoft OS. MP is just one. There is a good chance there will be other programs and drivers that will have compatibility issues. If you happen to have some older HW the manufacturer might decide to not even provide a new driver. My recommondation is to stick with Win7 for some time if you don't want the possible headaches of being an early adopter.

As for touch screen on a laptop, it's the worst money I've ever spent. Not only is the screen absolutely terrible in regards to color shifts (like early LCDs, maybe I got a lemon) but I hardly ever used it. A touch screen is mandatory on a tablet and works great for reading, looking things up on the web, etc. However, for productivity programs including MP it's not helpful. Moving your hand to the screen and on the screen is simply slowing you down too much. Considering this, I really don't need an OS that is optimized for touch screen. Also, I prefer to wait learning a new OS/program/outline until there is a really compelling reason to switch. I'm just thinking of the headache when MS introduced the new layout in their office application. Frustrating.

In the past I have built many computer systems myself (actually I just built a new one half a year ago) and tried the latest software, built my own Home Entertainment computer, home server (which I still use daily), etc. These days I chose whatever works most efficiently and sometimes that means sticking with some older and proven stuff (like Win7 and MP).

    Hi!

I'm having a similar problem. I had Media Pro 1.3.0 installed on my Windows 7 machine and in the meanwhile I upgraded to Windows 8 (RTM, via volume license agreements).

Now I can't update to 1.3.1, and saying that "it's not supported yet" doesn't help. Besides the documented bugs on 1.3.0, the application runs fine.

As far as I see it, it's just the installer that checks for the Windows version and stops.

Please PhaseOne, consider to include us on a "Beta" version, Windows 8 "compatible"!

Ok, I found a way to install 1.3.1 on Windows 8.

Use it at your own risk.

With an application that unpacks the MediaPro.v1.3.1.exe file (like 7-zip, for instance), extract the MediaPro.msi file.

Double click the MediaPro.msi and go! Just that simple!

Drew, we're already in December. Will there be an update soon?

Drew will tell you this is a user-to-user forum and that you have to make a support call for this question...

"For now, install it as discribed by pedroprata:"

No sorry a lot of bug and any function desactived

That's not a good solution (I uninstall media pro because it can't be used properly)

A "better" one is to connect to adobe bridge BUT with a lot of difficulties when you want to "open with"

The catalogue must be fairly well synchronised

It's not a long job to compil the source code for Windows 8 and if they don't do it, I escape that's for a new version with less bugs

    precision

If you work with bridge open a session and not a catalog

MP work fine with a session.
